The Republicanís Big Lies About Jobs (And Why Obama Must Repudiate Them)

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2011/03/23-11

Quote:
Cutting taxes on the rich creates jobs.” Nope. Trickle-down economics has been tried for thirty years and hasn’t worked. After George W. Bush cut taxes on the rich, far fewer jobs were created than after Bill Clinton raised them in the 1990s.

Since you are not a lefty you must begin to realize a few things:

All communists countries have a lower standard of living than US

If it weren't for what we were, the world wouldn't have a standard to shoot for

It isn't trickle down it is more of rising with the tide

We have provided a country where anyone that works can make it big in a big way

Remember that old song by Jay and the Americans - Only In America

"Only in America
Can a guy from anywhere
Go to sleep a pauper and wake up a millionaire

Only in America
Can a kid without a cent
Get a break and maybe grow up to be President

Only in America
Land of opportunity, yeah
Would a classy girl like you fall for a poor boy like me

Only in America
Can a kid who's washin' cars
Take a giant step and reach right up and touch the stars

Only in America
Could a dream like this come true
Could a guy like me start with nothing and end up with you"

That about says it all.

Sure he must repudiate them ... he certainly isn't going to win by going around saying they're right.

How about that. Obama could take all the money American corporations have, and it would cover this years deficit with a little left over for a couple more months of spending. Of course, next year the corporations would have no money left to steal and it would be back on the taxpayers to cover his next deficit.
Quote:
Cutting corporate income taxes creates jobs.” Baloney. American corporations don’t need tax cuts. They’re sitting on over $1.5 trillion of cash right now. They won’t invest it in additional capacity or jobs because they don’t see enough customers out there with enough money in their pockets to buy what the additional capacity would produce.
Obama's election year gift to America:
Quote:
A new estimate from congressional economists says the government will run a $1.2 trillion deficit for the budget year ending just a few weeks before Election Day. It would be the fourth straight year of trillion dollar-plus deficits.

So far 62.
To prove you wrong you have so far been offered;
A song,
A chicken joke,
A sort of a agreement,
And a valid argument (if corporations never operate or make a profit anymore).

The trickle down theory the Repugs are again offering makes me smile and remember Einstein's definition of insanity.

And then again, we keep arguing with 'em.

While the UNEMPLOYED percentage is down we now have a larger population and 3000000 fewer jobs than when Obama took office. The unemployment rate does not take in to account those people that have had their benefits EXPIRE.

Does that paint you a clearer picture?

From BLS.Gov

Jan 2012 Total employemnt
142,065,000

Jan 2008 Total employemnt
145,276,000

145,276,000
-142,065,000

That is a net loss of 3211000 JOBS
Knowing that the population has grown as well makes the numbers worse.

When you see the unemployment rate shown as a percentage it is a nice lie.

Numbers tell the truth when the president refuses to.

The presidents policies are a MAJOR FAILURE, he and his party can WALK.

The "lies", and their repudiations are distortions. Sort of the straw man arguments/solutions Obama is famous for.

--Taxes do effect jobs. If you have ever been faced with them you would know. Sometimes it limits the funds available to hire, R&D new products, purchase tooling, order products, the list is almost endless. Sometimes it limits the location of the work. If you are in a city, state, or country with high taxes, it is hard to keep your company located there.

--Corporate taxes--quote "American corporations don’t need tax cuts. They’re sitting on over $1.5 trillion of cash right now".
That amount of money while significant is limited considering the size of the economy. Companies must have reserves, since they have to actually earn there way, rather than take it from others like the Government. Just because you scrimp, and save doesn't mean others that didn't should tax it away from you.

--quote "Cuts in wages and benefits create jobs". This is an undeniable fact. The less it costs to produce a product or service the more likely a company is going to be able to take the risk of providing it. Job market forces will always set wages. That is part of why many jobs go oversea's in search of lower costs. The saving grace for American workers is there very high productivity. Often six to ten times that of China.

--Qoute “Regulations kill jobs. Congressional Republicans are using this whopper to justify their attempts to defund regulatory agencies"
The defunding is to stop out of control agencies that Obama is using to impose regulations that could not get past actual lawmakers. Bad Laws should not get passed, and most certainly should not be imposed by regulatory agencies. Those that work outside the law should be shut down until a respectable leadership is put incharge. Republicans have never said they do not want the "reasonable" regulations, they want to be rid of the unreasonable, and rediculous. If you think these bad laws have not cost jobs, you must never have worked at a heavily regulated company.

There is no correlation between the amount of the highest tax bracket and the GDP, ever. The GDP has grown and shrunk with lower top tax brackets, and both grown and shrunk with higher top tax brackets.

Falling wages and benefits simply reflects a surplus in employees. Sure, if we could work for $5 a day, we would all be employed. Other than living in a refrigerator box, ain't going to happen.

Regulations protect corporations who act properly against those who act improperly as much as they protect consumers and the environment. An oil spill hurts the industry as a whole, as does a bad batch of peanut butter or spinach or beef. Often due to a lack of the ability to track farm products, recalls are very wide in scope and hurt proper producers, or producers who's products were untainted. One reason for this is the banding together of some of these industries in PACs and lobbying, another is simply that they all have made "mistakes" in the past and citizens see them get away with it over and over again, usually getting a slap on the wrist.

Wow. The spin is being ramped up a bit, but it's going to have to reach new heights never before achieved to keep President Job Killer in office.

Here's what the spin you'll need to win looks like, and it's no coincidence that the result of that spin and Obama's policies are obviously the same:
