Yeah, considering you can get a genuine Japan-FPV DVR-SD4 for $199.95, I can't see why you'd buy the BEVRC one for $199.

It has scratches on the back of the case, only slight surface ones but it's supposed to be new. When I pulled it out of the box one side had some white residue on it (which wiped off). Also the wired remote on/off button looks like someone's kid made it and the white label on the battery was stuck on crooked.

Delving further in, the 2.5mm 4 pin plug for AV-in is a custom pin layout so you can't use a standard 4-pin cable. Standard is video-audio-audio-ground, BEVRC is +5v, video, ground, audio. If I want to eliminate the RCA plugs and go straight from my receiver to the unit I'm going to have to buy a 2.5mm plug and make a custom cable.

Most disappointingly, there appears to be no 720x576 video mode. I have an NTSC camera. 640x480 produces a good image. 720x480 turns the circles in to ovals, and 720x576 records a 720x480 video, that has the same bad aspect ratio. I tried a PAL camera and got the same results. So in the end you can only record at 640x480.

Apart from that it seems to work well. The picture looks good (at 640x480), you can turn the time stamp on and off and it records through static.

Version says: B257.11.08.22
1.) I bought mine from BEVRC as well. It seems that since they have moved to a new server, the price has gone back to $199. I got mine for $119 + $27 shipping through DHL.

2.) It does have 720 X 576 mode. Atleast mine does... The frame rate at 720x576 drops to 25 inplace of 30. I am not sure if it extrapolates the 720x480 to 720x576.

3.) I am pretty happy with this recorder. The output quality is decent and quite reasonable for FPV flying. I have uploaded some sample videos... Do check the quality on the first page...

For $119, I would say it is NOT a bad recorder. I will check the version of firmware tonight.

Cheers !!!

Price of product ( BEVRC PV700)
http://www.bevrc.com/bevrc-pv700-hig...rder_p297.html

has gone up from 119$ to 199$ since migration to new server.
Is this intentional? Can this be corrected as many of my friends have bought from this site for 119$.

Agreed, its not bad at that price. Bevrc initially sent me the wrong item, but were VERY quick to make amends, and the shipping is the fastest I've ever seen from China.

As a worst case test, recorded 35mins of pure static at full res (filled up 4gb!) - no problems

Minor things noticed so far:
The navigation controls aren't very responsive or solid (might just be this one), but there is a remote with the same functions.
There doesn't seem to be any end of charge indication
The 2.5mm AV jacks are a pain

The screen is surprisingly sharp, not sure if 640x480 or 800x600. It is tiny though, so not that useful for flying with.

Ren told me the screen is 320x240, so no different than the el-cheapo DVRs on ebay. Perhaps its higher quality, but the resolution is the same. I doubt the OSD text is that legible with that screen size and resolution.

Mine arrived today, I'm happy so far but haven't used it in anger yet.

Can it be charged through the USB port? I don't have an adapter to hand for a UK plug.

Agree... Nav controls are hard.. Not very responsive... Tats y i use the remote.
There is no charge complete indication. You have to time it.
AV jacks are customized.

It is not meant for flying by looking into the screen... Its way too small but crisp and sharp. Colors are vivid. For the price, it rocks...

OSD is very clear & legible, details are similar to what I can see on an 8" 800x600. Not that it matters that much...

lipo reads 4.18v after a whole day on the supplied charger so I'm not too worried about timing etc. Just being picky

edit: pics below.

I was thinking of getting one of these, someone said it's the same as the PV500 but here's the difference between the 500 and the 700

http://www.stuntcams.com/shop/pv800/...ison-Chart.pdf

The one from Bevrc shows a picture of the PV500 but lists it as a PV700
just curious.

I just bought one based on you guys saying it records pretty good.
I bought an EasyCap USB video cord and was planning on taking my netbook to record.
Hopefully this thing works pretty good and lightens the load of all my gear.
