Phoenix models-K8B Vintage scale glider,3.5 Metre wingspan

I am awaiting delivery for a phoenix models K8B vintage scale glider-3.5 Metre wingspan.Since the Seagull models KA8B has proved to be a good glider, its bigger version(K8B),should just be as good.It does not have spoliers,so l will be installing 250 mm electric spoilers, awaiting delivery on those as well.Hopefully l will receive the phoenix models K8B by early to mid april 2012,and complete the radio and spoiler installation for slope soaring this winter.UPDATED-13TH APRIL 2012-Finally,its arrived,I am picking up the K8B tommorow morning, plus the electric spoilers/ext leads, etc, everything required to get the K8B completed for winter slope soaring.I will post a pic when l complete it..UPDATED-19TH APRIL 2012-I have completed the K8B,and will post a pic when l slope it for its maiden flight.

Your thoughts?

Hey. I'm just wondering what your impressions of the K8B were? I'm thinking of getting one too...

Will-do Damian... although it will be a little while until it is in the air - I have another couple of projects that I need to finish first. I'll post some photos of the kit once it arrives though...

I maidened the K8B successfully over 12 months ago,and have flown it at another slope ,since the maiden. It is due for an aerotow, but yesterdays aerotow was cancelled due to total fire ban.Hopefully, the next aerotow event, wont be cancelled again this saturday at the club, otherwise l will have to wait 4 weeks until the next aerotow event.l have reduced the stab incidence to 2 degrees,it was 3.5 degrees out of the box, which has improved it.

Hi Damien

I've had a bunch of good flights with my 3.5m Ka8. I simply mixed flaps in my Tx that make the ailerons both go upwards about 2 inches to act as airbrakes. it works remarkably well. I also ripped out the stock aerotow release and put a purpose built alloy release in the nose instead - it's rock solid and super reliable...

modify the incidence of tail wing

Dear Damian
I wonder how you did it to reduce the incidence of the tail wing, you added a piece of wood in the back of the wing or sand the front?
Greetings from Chile
Omar
