Teacher arrested in new york -

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy
International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a
ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he
believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. He did not
identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

Al-Gebra is a problem for us', the Attorney General said. 'They derive
solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search ofabsolute values.' They use secret code names like 'X' and 'Y' and refer to
themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.

As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to
every triangle'.

When asked to comment on the arrest, the President has said, 'If G-d had
wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us
more fingers and toes.'

White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more
intelligent or profound statement by the President. It is believed that the
Nobel Prize for Physics will follow...

Very good...lol! I grew up in the age of calculators, but later in life, an 'old school' engineer(my boss at the time) taught me the slide rule...it's faster and easier than a calculator if you have any math skills. How many here can use one? Somewhat a lost art.

I've got one... No idea how to use it. My father even once challenged me to learn how to use it. He recently passed away and I now have his ... probably from his school days as it's labeled from his home town.

Maybe one day ... just maybe.

My Super fly likes to burst into flames like that. I don't know why.

Yep .. manuals and videos still exist for the slide rule. Not sure why. Suppose they'll live forever. Someone, far more nerdy than me, will keep this ancient contraption alive.

You can't borrow mine. It's a human powered calculator, you know. Needs no battrys.

Neither do dictionaries…

Anyhow I suck at Math I blame my lousy teachers that’s why I have about six different calculators at hand, could do with one of those nifty Texas Instruments calculators but they are so darn expensive.

Spelling Nazi trap If you go into my post history, you'll see quite a bit of it.

A lot of my very smart friends would develop an Oklahoma drawl when they talked about "smart stuff".
