Problem: 1420i-Net3 Charging at 33 amps when on 24 volts
I have the Hyperion 1420i-Net3 charger and have had no problems with it. But I recently got a 24 volt power supply, and when I charge my 5s battery on it, the charger immediately ramps to 33+ volts I was looking at the display, and thought I was not seeing something right, but when I unhooked the lead it was getting quite warm, so it was indeed pumping some amps.
When I go back to the input only being 12 volts it does fine, ramps the amps up to the 10 amps I have it set for,
1. Do you know what is wrong?
2. I got it from All E RC and sent a message, will they fix it? I have had it for barely over 30 days (ordered Jan 28).
I have not taken it apart or anything else so far. See picture in next post below....

In the attached picture you can see the charger data screen and a wattmeter between the charger and battery.
My bet is that the 12.31 amps is all the battery can take and that is why it is that low. I had the setup for 10 amps.

One thing I would test is the output of the power supplies...They look like Compaq server supplies, and I am not sure they were designed to be placed in series.
At the output of the series PS's...and with a load, use a good quality multimeter and mesure the DC voltage...Should be at the 24 volts.
Next, switch the meter to AC voltage scale and mesure the voltage...should be less than 1 volt.
If all is good, you can eliminate the PS as an issue.
The test above is to test for ripple voltage, or out of phase output that would normally only get picked up with an ocilloscope.

Just received and started using my 1420 works fine on 12.6V 180Ah deep cycle. I'm going to bring a second 12V deep cycle home and plan run it on 24V and charge an 8S pack I have. I'll let you know if it works. I have a 14V 100W MPI power supply that runs the charger for small packs but not much use for any of the big stuff.

Now I am really confused. I checked my DC voltages under load, and it looks fine.
But I checked AC voltage and the meter goes through a cycle about every 1 or 2 seconds where it reads less than a volt, then more then more up with about 15 and then goes to OL.
I check both of my server power supplies, they do the same thing. Checked my older 13.85 volt power supply (radio shack, 25 amp) and it does the exact some thing. So all of them are doing the same wave of AC voltage....
