It will fly but not much fun. I have a equivalent motor (Omega 72g) in my other plane, my static test shows 41oz of thrust with 11x5.5 prop and fully charged 3S lipo. After you beefing the plane, I would guess your AUW goes up to 35oz+. So maybe 2 minutes into flight you will be below 1:1 thrust/weight ratio.
12x6 prop will be a little too much for the 480 but that gives you about 47oz of thrust. and the motor will overheat very quick.

3536 motor with 12"+ prop will be ideal. This is an prop test example http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...h-10%29/Detail, you can get similar motor from many vendors such as valuehobby.com

That would be a good match for the Yak. I use 3530 kv1100 in mine, which is similar to power 480.

3530 is what I used too, seems to be working well. At 73g might be lighter than a 480?

Which TechOne plane is the most stable to fly 3D? Yes for a beginner to 3d, but not to the hobby.

My swift is pretty stable, but my friend's Yak seems a bit better. That could also be his flying, he's better at 3d than I am

This is a tricky question. 3D plane is all about how you set it up. So, if we are talking about all stock, I will pick Swift. Also the bigger wingspan helps.

Couldn't decide between the 54 or swift so with the nitro sale and another 10% off... got both. Took your advice and got a turnigy 3536 and 3530 from HK USA....can probably dump that nib eflite 480 to fund them both.
Thanks for the motor advice.

Weighing in on the motors FWIW, I also have run an E-flite park 480 and the Turnigy 3530 in a TopFlite Contender. The 3530 outperformed the EF in sport aero use, I reckon the difference would be just as noticeable in 3D use as well. Like Pilot F I now have an idle 480. I wanted to like it, but I'd rather have two Turnigy's for the same price!

agreed - very awesome! I love seeing kids doing some awesome RC 3d flying ... gives me hope that maybe one day I can be as good as them too. Or maybe I've got that wrong, maybe I'm too old already to master this...

You will enjoy the Swift. Flew mine yesterday for the first time in a month. I pulled it out of the hanger because it was really windy, +20 mph, but with the power kept up, the plane didn't mind it much. I forgot just how good this plane is. It is like a glider on landing so give yourself plenty of room.
