Back at it after years

Hey there,

Just gave my nephew all my RC stuff from the 80's. Traxxis Bullet, Futaba Remote and a box of other stuff. Of course nothing works. I went on eBay and ordered another futaba remote (Bad idea, same one from the 80's). Still nothing works.
I should have researched how much things have changed since then. You would think Vintage remote would have given me a clue!!!
Would like him to have something we can build on to increase performance.
Any suggestions on a reasonably priced complete setup (Off road car or truck with remote) or separate components I should buy to redeem my self.

Thanks in advance for any input

i would vote for a one of the thunder tiger stadium trucks like http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXAPPL**&P=0

or a duratrax evader such as http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXAAMW**&P=0

for a bigger 4x4 and nearly indestructable http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXXLE3**&P=0

all three are great entry level vehicles and the first 2 will need batteries for both the TX and Truck as well as a decent charger all 3 will need charger
