With stuff like transmitter sticks getting full of grime I take them off and clean them in metho.
For general grime on the tranny I'll clean it with 50/50windex and metho. I get into the crevises with a toothbrush and a bunch of cotton buds.
You need something to cut through not only human oils but if you're flying with glow models, something to cut through their oils too.
Also, for general dust (where I fly it's pretty damn dusty) steal a make-up brush from the wife and keep it in your kit. Turn the transmitter upside down and give a gentle brush to get the crud off.
