i am new to this forum so this will be my first post

I already had 2 Hobbyking 450 clones and one noname 450 V2 SE clone.
My flying skills are not the best but i can almost fly very save.

At this point my experience with clone are mixed ... some good some bad ...

A few weeks ago i decided to buy me a new clone, a "High Quality" clone.
My choose was the ALZRC 450 PRO 3G Flybarless with electric components from RC711.com

In the following thread i will try to do a objective review and show you how i build the 450 Pro.

shipping was very very fast ! it took only 3 Days from ordering till i received it!

The Box looks good there is a holographic Sticker with a serial number i don't know what it is good for, maybe quality control ??

Everything is plastic wrapped



I ordered 2 extra parts, metal canopy lock and a Carbon tail control rod.



The Canopy is very good airbrushed and looks very good

The main gear seems to be straight ...



But as on other clones the Autorotation gear is not good.
The Align Autorotation gear has a steel inlet where the bearing shaft comes in thats why the Align ones got no play !



Main bearing holder is a complete machined part. Traces from the milling process are visible ... I Think this part should be very precise.
Take a closer look and you can a bit of Locktite. I think Locktite was used to secure the bearing

Fuselage Parts and Mainframe are all V2 even the gyro plate is there.

Motor mount is V2 an looks thicker than older version.

Some Locktite, cable ties, 2 1,5mm Hex driver....



I never saw a Tail boom brace in a kit before ... nice !



ALZRC is placing like Align everywhere they find a free spot their logo :roll eyes:

I think this is symbolizes quality ...




Lets have a look at the Head and tail



And a closer look at the Head.
The Head feels very solid there is no play in the swashplate.
The Linkages are moving very tight ... i think this is good and bad at the same time.
Linkage Balls are all "one pice design", i always had problems to tighten and untighten the cloned "two piece design" Linkage Balls.
Main Grips are sitting very stiff in the Rotor Housing.
The Main Shaft is like the V2 ... the surface is very smooth, seems like this Shaft is hardened and grinded.



Head reassembling was problem free because there was no Locktite

Parts i changed:
1x Main Shaft

Head reassembling !

Tail reassembling and the problems !!!

A broken screw !! I think there was to much Locktite in the Tail Holder

I tried to drill the broken screw out but i messed up the Tail Holder





I don't like the Rear Shaft ! if you take a closer look you can see that the teeth look like the tooth-tips are worn ...
The surface of ALZRC shaft feels in comparison to the Align pretty rough

I compared it with the Alignīs and i will put them in



I will countercheck the Front Drive

Front Drive ... same story !
In the past i had some problems with the cloned shafts ... the umbrella gear was getting loose.
Also the Shaft was bent, thats why the Autorotation gear was a bit blocking every turn. This would cause vibrations which are bad !



I also changed the Autorotation gear, now everything is running perfect !



But now a other problem comes up !
The Torque Tube is bad ! The Tube is very straight but one of the Ends is bad inserted.
A small silver spot on the End indicates the defect.



I like the Tail Blades ... the edges are OK ... and a ALZRC Logo on the Blades

Today i have tested the ESC and i have to say that iīm not impressed.
The ALZRC 40A ESC has no Soft Start !
In my opinion this ESC is useless for Helicopter applications.
Sure it is possible to spin the Rotor up manualy by Stick but the ALZRC ESC costs 20$ in comparison the Turnigy Plush 40A with a 6 second Soft Start cost the same !
A manufacturer whose slogan is " THE BEST RC HELICOPTER PARTS MANUFACTURERS CHINA " should sell the best ESC from China ... for example Hobbywing Platinum ...



Blades are perfect balanced! The paint job is not perfect but on the same High Level as the Align Blades.
Both Blades are straight !





Now i need some recommendations about which servos i should buy !?!?!?

I am also building ALZRC pro v2. (also ordered it from RC711.com)
- I didn't get CD manual
- My head had blue threadlockker in all screws except head stopper.
- I had also problems with disassembling the tail, because it was assembled with red threadlockker. I used dremel versa tip to heat the tail blade holder so that I managed to remove tail pitch assembly and replace it with that metal upgrade tail pitch assembly. Now tail is firm and doesn't have any loose when twisting the grip. I assembled tail with blue threadlock. I am not going to put red in there because it's so pain to remove. They don't call it permanent threadlock for nothing...
- This is my first copter with torque tube, so I can't say anything bad because I can't compare those gears to anything. I am going to try to use those original gears and see how they work first.

You should program your ESC before you start to use it. ESC is same as hobbywing so you can use hobbywing or turnigy programming card (or even TX to program it). I changed cut off voltage to high, start mode to very soft and timing mode to middle.

I am currently trying to fit all the wiring inside the body. I have MKS DS530 servos for the cyclic and 3DPRO DS9257MG servo for the tail. RX is orange 6ch with satellite and 3 axle gyro is CX-3X1000. The bad thing is that MKS servos and CX-3X1000 gyro has very short servo wires, so I have to consider where to route those wires.

jaahaavi, i highly recommend you to change the umbrella gears, had some bad experience with the cloned gears i think itīs worth it to change it without testing

Did you test the soft start ? On my ESC it is definitively not working !

I have to disagree with you, the Plush and the ALZRC ESCīs are not the same here are some pics (upper is ALZRC)





The ALZRC ESC uses a ATMEGA chip but the Plush a Silabs ..



To fit the ESC i always use to file it.



Fits perfect now !
HXT900 Servos are just placeholders :-) still think about which Servo to order ...

Hi,

I tested ESC only so that motor worked (without pinion/load) and I didn't noticed that the soft start didn't work. It's hard to say because my test was so short and there wasn't anything abnormal. On weekend I have more spare time to test it better within the heli. I don't have much spare time on weekdays, but in this week I managed to make most of the wiring's.

One other thing what I noticed from your pictures is that Turnigy 40A Plush has now 2 capacitors?
I have older 40A plush and it has only one capacitor just like in this picture:

My ESC test from last weekend was total failure. My main gear wasn't round, it's more like oval. From other side motor pinion is so tight that it hardly rotates and on the other side pinion hardly touches the main gear teeth Damn Chinese quality control

I ordered Align main gear set today. I hope that I'll get it soon.

... iīm keen on to see your ESC test ... maybe there are some units with a working soft start ????

Hey Ruzki, this is strange as my ALZ 450 pro is nothing like yours, and it has no where near as many Logo's stamped on it, just a few? maybe it was one of the first ones out?

i too had to change some parts to get it to fly well, i just bought align parts

main shaft
feathering shaft (just scared)
bearings for main shaft, tail shaft , lift gear for torque tube shaft
torque tube drive
new torque tube bearing x 2
align tail blades ( mine arent so good looking as yours)
align mains
align FBL head
align FBL FL760 ( but it was rubbish, so i now have copterx CX-3x1000)
align motor
hobbywing 40amp esc
align sport skids, as i dont like the plastic all in one skids (just preference)

it now goes like a scalded cat using Gensace 2200 40c cells
