95K rpm is amazing!
I'll be honest and say that that's a really rough looking rotor.

You might want to look a little to the right and have a look state of that motor too....

Remember, it's a printed rotor - 10mm in diameter! That's pretty small.

Yes and I have 15mm rotors. Ya I see the glue and stuff, but is the rotor itself coated in something?

I can't get a good pic of mine.

Chris,

Your 10mm EDF motor looks like it is running great! It would be very interesting to know the ohms, current draw, and static thrust the motor is producing.

Yess.. and the surface texture/detail looks like it's of assembled boulders when magnified.
There is an Alternate process to the bead/shot of melted abs(?) Shapeways uses, where a Laser is directed into a liquid plastic polymer , building up from micro thin layers, sequentially and the resultant parts look/have the surface texture of Die Cast. Claimed much stronger as well.. have no verification on strength though.. could even be true :-).
However surface finish/detail/accuracy is of a whole generation (or 2) superior quality.
Worth doing a little research if continuing with tiny parts production ?.

No need Kev. I too have 15mm printed rotors here and mine don't look like that.....

Bare, you're referring to the 'frosted ultra detail' printing process.

Hey guys, the first pics I posted were taken from the same fans with a different camera. It didn't look that bad then. Dave, the material of my fan is frosted ultra detail too isn't it? Don't forget that this fan is much smaller so the magnification was higher compared to the 15mm fan. Plus, my pic isn't blurry If there is a better production technique, I would be interested in testing it out. BTW, I managed to improve the magnet centering, so this motor came out balanced as it is, not even balancing of the rotor was done, These printed fans are the burner.

I am back in the game

Chris

No, currently, that's the best. There are occasional rough ones though. It is really a game of chance.

you are right. I played around with the balance and made it worse. Current reading:
current 0.19A
voltage 3.74V
power 0.7W

P.S.: Current is including supply current for the rx and blc (reading 0.01A)
P.P.S.: I am not quite sure anymore if we are talking about 96k or 48 k rpm. Can anybody help me out by the tone? I am reading with a frequency tuner and the dominant tone I get is around 1600Hz. I am getting some different readings too. Need to get my scope back! Anyway, it feels like there is quite some potential in getting that bird airborne...
