1:32 scale Type 9 U-Boat build (WHU short kit )

Hi all -
I am building my first R/C sub, and thought it would be cool to post pictures and descriptions as I go along.
This way guys who have done this before can advise me if there is a better way to do something, or if my theory is flawed!
Also, other beginners might be inspired once they see it is not as intimidating a task as it first appears.
If this is not the proper venue for me to post this sort of thread, please let me know. I am new to this whole internet forum thing, and I do not want to "step on anyone's toes" by posting this sort of build thread in a inappropriate place.

Thanks Much ! David in the frozen midwestern USA

I don't think you can, you have to select the thread type when you first make the new post. Doesn't matter anyways, the important things are the name and content

Any pictures of your build so far?

Post them here, as you reply, scroll down to "Attach Files" and click "Manage Attachments" then upload your pics from your computer. This can't be done in "Quick Reply", you have to go advanced.

Are you building a kit or from scratch?
You're right when you said it's an intimidating first build. At 1/32 scale your Type IX is about 8 ft long.

What ballast system are you planning to use?

I have a "short kit" from warship hulls unlimited.
7 feet, 10 and 1/2 inches long.
Will trim her to "Just barely positive bouyant"
and then use ballast tanks to pull her up all the way for surface runs.
use forward motion and down-plane-angles to dive dynamically.
at least, that is the present plan of attack !
Think I will use propane for blowing tanks. (?)

Ok. Not much info out there about Warship Hulls Unlimited Type IX. The only one I found is at the Subcommitte forum. http://s181686668.onlinehome.us/phpB...=10415&start=0

Some might object with your plan on using Propane, saying it's dangerous and an explosion hazard. But so is Propel which is composed of Butane/methane. So just make sure there's no spark source anywhere.

Will you go with a dry or wet hull?

I looked up your hull to see the price, I saw $175 and thought that wasn't too bad, then I saw that was just the shipping cost, LOL. Good luck with your project.
