You should be able to take the collet prop adaptor off and push on the 3030 on the motor shaft.

Don't forget the part about "specially wound motor" in the introduction video.
If you ruin the stocker, you're out of luck with an exact replacement.
They need to to get some stock replacement motors in stock.

Lol I have had my motor out and it is a ap05 just like the rest of the micro range from hobbyking, no doubt it is a specially wound motor lol but not just for this model.

I have 2 spare ap05's here anyway.

See previous link supplied for motor.

Welp another Radjet 420 went to the big airport in the sky. I had three flights on mine. one the third flight I was about 60% through the flight I was dropping low to start a highspeed run and the receiver locked up and the plane drove itself right into the pavement. I will admit I giggled a bit when foam went flying into the air from the impact. The front end of the plane got obliterated up to the wing root. The guts will live on in a scratch build plank style flying wing.

RadJet 420 3S setup

Thanks for all of the info on everything from everyone here. This is a very fun plane indeed, great to see more of them showing up now.

Wrt 3S setups, be careful if using the stock 5 gram motor for that. For planes like this RadJet 420, I tend to fly at full throttle pretty much the entire flight. So ditched the stock motor and used a Turnigy B1230-4100 motor that I had on-hand. Note, that this older inrunner motor appears to have been replaced with a newer part: BL1230-4200

The B1230-4100 (and pretty much all of those little Feigao style inrunner motors) will run hot normally, couple that with a 4100kv rating and I ended up having to run a very small prop when all was said and done. I consider "big props" like the GWS 3030 and even 3020 as being too much for this motor on 3S if planning to fly at full throttle throughout the flight. The motor really liked the GWS 2508 (2.5x0.8) however top-end speed was missing. The GWS 2510 (2.5x1) was better, however still wanted more pitch so ended up converting a GWS 3020 (3x2) prop to approximately 2.5x1.5 to keep WOT load below ~4 amps.

Below are power readings from a 1 minute static full throttle run using the Nano-tech 180mAh 3S 25C pack:

Peak Amps = 4.12
Peak Watts = 46.2

After 1 minute of full throttle:
- Amps = 3.41
- Volts = 10.31
- Watts = 35.2

Here is a video of my RadJet 420 with custom 2.5x1.5 prop, 4100kv inrunner and Nano-tech 180mAh 3S lipos:
RadJet 420 micro with NT 3S lipo (3 min 13 sec)

Here are some pictures of how the inrunner motor was mounted to the RadJet micro fuse.

Where did you get that motor mount? I have a couple of 12-30-5300kv inrunners that could benefit from such a critter.

And they can handle 3x3 props without getting too hot on 2S for sure and reportedly on 3S.

The fiberglass motor mount was included with this motor:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10575

It was sitting around not being used with the included motor so put it to use since the inner mount holes lined up perfectly with the 1230 motor, and the three outer mount holes would line up within the diameter of the donut plywood plate.

In absence of the fiberglass motor mount part, it should be possible to make it out of 1/32" plywood (drenched with thin-CA for strength) or a 1mm carbon plate.

I think there's no need to mimic the fiber motor mount plate like the one that I had on-hand. I can imagine two simple round plywood mounts each with different sized donut holes. The 1st plywood mount with larger donut hole would be glued to the foam fuse like the one pictured above. The 2nd plywood mount with smaller donut hole would be screwed to the motor face and to the first plywood mount plate. Should be a simpler part to make.

For the plywood plate, I used 1/32 plywood sheet from hobby store, used a Quarter (coin) to trace the outer circle size and cut-out round plate using curved tip hobby scissors. Then used a dremel tool to make the inner hole large enough for the motor can to slide through. Then I drenched the place with thin CA and sanded both sides smooth and colored black with magic marker.

Maybe the above process could be used to make the 2nd plywood plate with a inner hole made only large enough for the motor shaft to clear.

Hope to see that 5300kv motor put to use, the RadJet should be super fast with that. A GWS 3x3 prop on 2S seems like a good place to start. IIRC, the 4100kv on 3S was pulling something like 5.5 amps with the GWS 3030 and the power system was putting out ~57 watts at peak. Was too afraid to cook something so started to back-off going to smaller props.

I wonder if anyone is working on a 4S setup for this little RadJet, maybe the GWS 2508 could be used for that.

Your 1/32 plywood idea is great.

I already used the 12-30-5300 on a 12" WS delta with 2S & a 10amp ESC. It moved right on out. It was a bit draggy, so top end wasn't great, but zero heat issues.

Thanks for the info on the motor, maybe the 4100 can be pushed further than I thought before. Will have to try some more props...
