Women formed a major part of the group who moved aircraft from place to place during the war: everything from high-performance fighters to 4-engine bombers, and maintained an excellent safety record. There have been a few articles published on these women, and nothing seemed to scare them!

The disgusting part of all this is that, once the war was over, they were told to go home and get pregnant (can you say, "baby boom"?), and it was decades before they were allowed to fly airliners. I am glad to say that such chauvinism is on the wane.... slowly.... too slowly....

Ahh, chauvinism aside I still hold the door for women and my wife does not carry grocery bags.

That is being polite, not chauvinist, in my book. For now, I'm stronger than my wife, and I hold the door for anyone using that door, male or female, young or old, Just common (now uncommon) courtesy. I am amazed at how few people under 40 bother to say thanks!
