Xplorer E motor choices

I'm looking for suitable motor choices for Xplorer 3.5 to be used in ALES comps.
I expect the flying weight to be 2.4kg (84.67 ozs)

Currently on my list are:

Hyperion 3025-8 - Looks like it might be OK but it could be really tight fit.

MVVS 46 5.6/690
MVVS 46 5.6/960 - these may fit, but are a bit heavy.

A Nue motor would be my first choice but is beyond my budget.

Other suggestions appreciated, preferably for motors available in US or Australia.

Check out Neil's recommendations for a Supra on his web site;

I'm in the middle of building a E Super Supra (147" span) when finished will be around 2.1Kg and I'm planning on using a Mega 16/25/2 with a Kontronik 5.21gb, same as RoK-K used on his Supra found on his build thread.

Hi,

Hyperion is fine, I have a 3032 6 turn, 3s and a Graupner 15x10, climbs at 13m/s.

Cheers!

Xplorer E motor choices

Thanks for your replies.

Without having a motor at hand, my major concern using the Hyperion was having enough clearance for the motor cables to clear the rotating case.

From your comments, that appears to not be an issue.

Your help is much appreciated.

Did either of you choose to use the motor backplate bearing support offered by Hyperion?
