I use clear monokote. It ends up being invidible and lasts for the lifetime of the plane. Lately I have even been sealing the rudders too. I'm looking for any little advantage I can get to make the plane fly better and i think it helps.

Will try Monokote next time Every performance boost is essential, especially when us 3D pilots push these tiny 10g servos to the limit, haha!

60" Laser

What are the color schemes for the 60" Laser?

After reading Doc's comparison of the 48" EXP airframes, I think the Laser suits my flying style best.

I know it will have the red scheme from the 48'' but there is supposed to be a second scheme too i believe

Here's an odd tidbit. I tore up the left wing on my Laser awhile back, so I put a new one on it. I took the servo, arm, and pushrod with both ball links straight out of the old wing and dropped it into the new one. I did not have to touch the trims, sub trims or even turn a ball link. The aileron was perfectly centered by making zero adjustments of any kind. I flew it today and never touched the tims.

People don't realize how good they have it these days. Models are relatively straight and true compared to back in the day.

The Brown truck just backed down the drive and left one of these on the porch ! My first E.F bird and it looks good . I have been looking over this thread for the last couple of days and wondering whats the magic motor/battery combo ?

The Torque/Airboss combo with a 12x6 prop and a 2200-2600mAh 4s.

1) Without music I can hear the motor sounds and commentary.

I may have to start making more that way, espicially with the 60" planes. That 4016 has a really pretty whooosh sound..

Personally I'd go for a Motrolfly. Either the DM2820 (685 or 750kv for 4s, 950Kv for 3s), or if you really want to go nuts the DM3615 750Kv (light-weight)

The 3615 is a bit heavier than the standard motor so you would need to use it in conjunction with a battery at the smaller end of the range (2200mAh) to get the balance right. The laser tends a little toward nose heavy so it's best not to go too big on the battery in any case.

With cooling scoops, and a larger air inlet for the esc, I've been running a Xoar 13x6(wood! Not a apc).. The numbers are only a hair higher than a 12x6apc, and still very Acceptable. The performance gain is great, with a bit more air over the control surfaces. After six minutes of hard flying the motor, and ESC are warm to the touch, and my 65c Genace 2200 Packs Stay very cool..

Be warned! don't just throw a 13x6 prop on your plane and expected to be fine. I went with a Xoar because The numbers are more mild. I also monitored the heat range until the set up was PERFECT. Proper cooling is a must on these planes, when you start pushing the numbers!

These days all of my planes are baffled. from 48 inch, up to 78", A must in my opinion..

wow 3615=beast!! vroom. I love the 2820. Bad to the bone motor. Id go 2820-750-ish kv for 13x6.5 prop (if the plane likes that prop.my mxs and the edge did) Or 950 for stupid power on 12x6. Smaller prop tho so not sure on the alpha moves on that prop. Probly just fine. oh 4s
