This makes me want a Laser
If you aren't going to watch the whole thing AT LEAST watch 4:25-4:50 the announcer can barely keep up

A lomcevak is something different. Leo invented a maneuver called the "Zwimbleturm" that is what we call the pop top. I think the announcer just messed up. A Zwimbleturm and a pop top are the same thing. A lomcevak, however, is completely different.

My only guess is that the conventional nitro planes I was fly were not capable of doing this maneuver. I've since gone back and done them with every 3D plane I have owned. When I try it with a conventional plane, it will just stand straight up and snap around the thrust line, but it won't flatten out and pop out of the top like a good 3D plane will. As far as I can tell, no one else was doing these at the time, so I thought I had invented something. A friend coined it as "the enema," and it, uhhh, stuck (sorry, bad pun, I know). I've also seen the maneuver called a "Dutch Lomcevak." I went to the 2006 Triple Creek 3D event and unveiled "the enema" to the public for the first time. I had a nice converstation with Chris Hinson about it, and I let him fly my plane and try it. That was my beginnings with Extreme Flight, and it's funny how everything always seems to go back to Leo and the Laser. |

The primary difference in my "pop top" to what everyohne else seems to be doing is that I enter mine inverted. I do this because I use the centrifigul force of the quarter outside loop entry to build energy and keep the plane from snapping toward the belly. A nice bonus is that this seems to hold the plane straight, and the energy seems to multiply, blowing the airplane straight out the top.
I've tried them upright but invcerted seems more natural and I can hit it every time. Upright not so much. Quote:
Maybe this will help..................
My new laser is ready for decals, and B and E Graphix is shipping those out this week. It will be great to have a backup Laser. So far I have only been operating with just one, and the week I did not have one hanging over my desk really bugged me. I've wanted a Laser for so long that I think I may fly the new one and leave the current one hanging there forever, just so I can look at it. That will give me a handy excuse to build a third one. |
