Very nice, that's what I call Old School. I'll be looking for one of these at SEFF.

I believe Leo won the championship in 1988 or so, which would make the Laser about 20-25 years old give or take. Funny thing is, the Laser EXP looks much more modern that many other supposedly "contemporary" designs we see ot there. Funny, when you design them first to fly right and let the shape follow that, they always seem to look just right.

Chris, how would you describe the laser compared to the other four 48's?

Extra-tracks and imacs
Edge-3d beginner or cheater 3d
Mxs-the tumbler
Pantera-the hybrid

Mostly though they fly pretty close to the same but those really are the differences between them. Just curious as to where you envision the laser fitting in.

Still looking forward to the other two 48's.

Since his hometown airport for his Laser was in Jersey and I saw him at the Sussex airshow about 15 times I will have one of these!! Leo was way ahead of his time! There is even a video of his Laser doing a "POP TOP" back in 96..
I would also love to see one in both of his schemes !!
Now I now I'm way ahead here but a 50 or a 100cc would be a great addition to your fleet!!

Definitely.
Way back when... I had one of the blue/yellow ones, covered in that thin foam board they used to use.
(It was generally either that, or sticky-backed paper, back then, wasn't it? ARF's have come a long way)

Mine was in really good shape except for the finish, which was extremely sun-faded.
It was definitely one of my favorite planes, though.
Having one with ~2:1 thrust and 3D control surfaces would be awesome!

I don't even care what color it is. The red looks nice, too
Gonna have to sell a kidney to make it through this year, I think.

Edited for pics I found of that thing. I kept thinking it was Lanier, since I had a couple of theirs over the years.
Seems their Lasers were much larger, though. The one I had was actually from EZ...

Very cool Chris!!! I have been wanting to see an updated Laser for quite a while. Most of the newer generation Aerobatic planes are spawned from it anyway, most people don't know.

Now this is sweet! Does it come with a "Leo Loudenslager Shark" tail mod?

Love the old school scheme.

Here's a video and some info for those that don't know about Leo's Shark. Leo was way ahead of his time, and possibly could have been the grandfather of full scale 3D. Unfortunately he was killed before it ever left the ground.
