Change Sun 10 blade 70mm (Test Results Consolidated)

I have started this thread to make it easy for users of the Change Sun 10 blade 70mm fan to easily find motor combination test results.

This thread is intended only as an easy place to find the results. I will update this thread with results as new user tests are performed.

All questions and discussions about the Change Sun 12 blade fan should be directed to the Change Sun 10 blade 70mm thread.

Again this is only intended to be a place for the aggregation of all the test results from the other official thread that has become way to big for visitors to fine the information easily. I hope this will be helpful for new visitors looking for test information.

Update: 2/26/2011 include in plane tests of the Eflight BL32 in-runner.

Quick question, why is the 2100kv 2855 producing more thrust on 6S than the 2300kv?

Volts on the packs, its really important to look at volts even when just watts are posted

Nice list, thanks! If you have time, something similar for the 90mm fan would be great. Nobody wants to read through 150+ pages of posts :-)

List should include ESCs used. There is a difference in output of let's say SuperSimple HK ESC(suppo) and HobbyWing genuine ESC.
That's at least what I found out testing EDF with few programmable speed controls.

Great resource! Bummer there are no more results of the 2855 2800kV on 3s, great combo and good for a light setup on, e.g., the HK Vampire
The test results are buried in the CS70 thread, if you have them ready it would be great if you could include those for reference

Very useful data, what would make it even better is if you could compute g/W^(2/3). This get's around the issue of declining g/W as power increases and will tell you instantly which is the most efficient combo.

g/W is not very helpful when comparing results at differing power levels. Took me a while to get my head around the value, but you will see the light when you compute it.

The reason for misleading nature of g/W is that much of the energy turns to efflux rather than raw thrust, as power is increased. But since you are not measuring efflux, you are blind to this energy.

Change Sun 10 blade 70mm from hobbyking, paired with the Turnigy L2855 - 2100kv

4S 2650 40C (itīs an old zippy battery..)
Vm: 13.25 Volts
Ap: 24,9 Amps
Wp: 329,9 Watts
Thrust: 800 grams
grams/watts: 2,4 g/w (!)

Why is mine so much more efficient? - is it because the fan and the motor is brand new? - or is it because the motor is cold (20 *C) under/before test?

6S 2200 30C (itīs two old turnigy batteries..)
Vm: 20,14 Volts
Ap: 46,7 Amps
Wp: 940 Watts
Thrust: 1400 grams
grams/watts: 1,49 g/w

After a couple of tries I measured up to 70 *C inside the motor, I might turn down the trottle a bit on 6s...

3S 2200 30C
Vm: 10,9 Volts
Ap: 18,3 Amps
Wp: 200 Watts
Thrust: 550 grams
grams/watts: 2,75 g/w (!)

Great job on collecting all the data but to compare apples to apples it would been good to use the same battery pack (and I mean the same not the same capacity). That way the numbers would be comparable. (variables kept within a minimum change).

Tam I just watched the vid WOW!!!!!! that is pretty damn impressive for the little bl32 motor.......man I knew that was a good setup but now its locked in and proven, and on top of that its reliable and still going with over 100 flights on the first one Nick and I put together.

the bl32 in this test is out of sean's habu and has well over 200 flights on it

This isn't more efficient, there are thrust to watts above that are in the 1.6 and 1.7 range.

Your packs are dipping here pretty bad at WOT, you're also below 3.0 volts a cell....that cause's packs to heat up pretty bad. Get a cell checker, it'll allow you to cell if you have a popped cell in the pack.

70c is pretty good, a Scorpion motor does around 385F on it's motor elements so half of that is pretty good.
