build log peanut M5 Sparrowhawk.

walt mooney peanut scale miles M5 Sparrowhawk. looks about right for a 3inch prop. what i go so far. the wing was finished, but warped from the beginning. i am going to deviate from the plans a bit on the wing, never could use the 1/16 stringer for ant curved surface.

made out of 9.5 pound balsa.
covering is Esaki white.

A favorite. In fact I love all the Miles racing planes, but what kind of gear can you stick in there?

dont really know. i dont have much at the moment. i could go RET, i got a p51 motor and 3020 ready to install. one could fit a ar6400 brick in there. i might just not install anything and store it or maybe sell it.

fuse top....

started the fuse. i am making seperatable. (not sure if that is a word.) it will make accessing the innards much eaiser. planing on only RET for this one for sure. i just got in some tiny magnets from bidproduct, so i will be using those as hinges.

not sure how to make the front, i am guessing a balsa carved block will not covered with tissue very well.

EDIT:

going with a scale elevator, i figure this was made for passive control, free flight, and installing a servo will reduce the need for the over large elevator.

Very cool, I'm wondering what gear you are going to use? Also love the carbon LE.

thanks, the LE was bugigng me, i needed something strong, and balsa was not it.
i dont know about the gear. i have a bunch of as2000L servos, but i hate them. the only rx i have is an rx415, but i dont have enough connectors to retrofit the AS2000L. i might just solder then, but the weight is comming out close to 20 grams, i only have 17 of thrust with this motor.
i was hoping for full 4 ch, but cuz of weight i might go with 3. or i might try some actuators.......

EDIT:
i decide to sell her. i dont really have the gear i need for this, and dont want a flying pig.
started covering!
next question; to shrink or not to shrink?
