Question
How do you prevent someone from repeatedly ripping people off?

I just thought I'd pose this question:

How do you prevent someone from repeatedly ripping people off without being able to warn other people?

Mmmmmmmmmm....... That's a noodle scratcher waz, almost sounds like a rhetorical question.

Is this one of those: "a man was found in the bush wearing a scuba set up, how did he get there" type problems??

I think you need to give more information, if you can

Hey guys,

Its not meant to be a rhetorical question Pete, but I guess it could be considered that way.

Its a legitimate question, and I'm curious to know others opinions.

Let me rephrase.....What is the appropriate way to prevent someone doing so repeatedly?

If its not appropriate to warn other people on posts, how do you go about it?

Is it a one off sale type situation, or is it more of a store type situation?

I'm thinking a store is easier to get a bad name out there, but a one off sale you don't know who is interested to warn. Am I on the right track here?

Maybe name and shame in a thread with the victims saying their bit.
Then when need be, bump away

You make sure you have facts and not hearsay then you just post it in public.

Thats how i would do it. If someone ripped me off and i could prove it with fact i would then tell others about it without doubt!

Mate, I'm sure that there was a comment in one of the "Blabber" threads a year or two ago about a particular Ebay shop that was (is) still up here in Bris, from memory it was quite long and actually didn't revolve around a piece of R/C Gear

The point that I'm making is that a discreet comment somewhere like that might be enough

Ok, that's more than fair.

So lets say that you have the proof, and you are the victim. You post you gripe and make it public.

Then, the accused reports the post to the mod who then forces you to remove the post, effectively preventing the warning to others from being read.

What then? In the meantime, the accused continues their underhandedness scott free.

Its not worth taking this sort of thing to court as the costs alone would be more than the amount lost.

Any more ideas?

Send the details to anyone that wants them in a PM.

One person in this hobby knows atleast 10 others that they will no doubt pass the information too.

I'll go first!

I know some forums have a sticky with known "bad traders" like skyline Australia forum.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/for...1#entry1217251

Theres not that many bad traders with toy planes to warrant one here but other forums don't mind name and shame.

Unfortunately, PM's don't inform newbies, who are by far the most affected as they aren't aware of the shonk.

Mick, same as on the Delica forum.

I wonder if it can be done on rcgroups?

yeah given what's gone down in the last couple of days it's not hard to work out what this thread is all about.

Two things you can do IMHO:

1: if you are someone like our mate Bpwrjet you jump on a plane yourself, or drive down and get what it is you are owed, then separate the limbs from the body....slowly

2: If you are a little light on in the whoopass department, call the authorities, spend lots of money and hopefully get 10% of the thousands you spend back, then call someone like Bpwrjet to get what it is you are owed, then get him to separate his limbs from his body....slowly

3: Forget about it

I know I said two things you can do. #3 is for losers

But what needs to happen is the people themselves who have lost or have been affected NEED to simply come out and put it in writing.....or there is always #3......

Here is a good a place as any. I know when I buy from someone online, I ALWAYS do a google first. If anything is amiss, it will show up, google is EVERYWHERE

So, what say these people?
