I know this subject might have been beaten to death, but I can't find any good threads about it, so I ask the question: What generator are you guys using?

I need something to charge my Electra 12s 6600mah batteries. I have a cellpro8 and a maxamps 24 volts 1100 watts powersupply

I like the size and weight of the honda eu1000, but it is just enought for this, with no extra capacity to charge anything else

On the other hand, the 2000 is like 20 pounds heavier, but it will allow charging other stuff at the same time

I do load up my car for each trip, so weight is a consideration

Also, have you guys tried the Generac units? they are less expensive, but I wonder if they are reliable, easy to start, quiet etc...

Lastly, If anyone has a used one that wants to sell, let me know

I do sell Yamaha 2000 or 2400.
The 2000 is working great. It put out 1600 watts continues.
This new btw with factory warranty.

Hi Jack:
I use the Honda 1000. The 2000 is better suited to our needs though.
The generics tend to be much louder then the Honda/Yamaha's.
The extra twenty pounds gives you a good workout!

I currently use the Honda 1000. I've had it for years, beautifully quiet and reliable. It's now too small for my charging requirements though. Looking at upgrading to the 2000 watt model

You can't go past Honda or Yamaha, they are both awesome in my books. You get what you pay for. The cheap units are noisier and i've seen them upset club members when charging at the field. My little Honda, well you don't even know it's there.

Guys, thank for the advice. I'll stick to yamaha or honda, noise is a big deal for me. My club is in a very quiet and peaceful place, so i don't think an anoying generator will be welcomed. I thought the Generac brand was good (I guess is honeywell), but i don't want to experiment

Greg, with your 1000 unit, can you charge your 12s packs at 40 amps? that is about 675 watts. The 1000's are rated at 900, and you have efficiency losses at the power supply and the charger... what is your experience? I have never tried it.

You are right.... I forgot to mention that is a set of 3 4s packs, charged in parallel. (typical electra set up)...

So I'm actually charging a 4s, 20Amp pack at 40 amps charge rate (2 C's)

Jack for what it's worth I've been running the honeywell 2000 watt all last summer and it has worked great!!
it's quiet, I've heard the honda and the yamaha they are just a touch quieter then mine. The yamaha is the quietest

With that said as well as mine has worked at $569 bucks with shipping to my door I would never spend the $1300 for the yamaha

I have a Honda 1000 running a 1150 watt power supply and 2 TP820's we charged 3 6s-5000, in about 20 min. running the 1000 to the max.

On a less serious note has anyone taking those Harbor Freight generators and put some sound proofing around them to make them more quiet?

86 shipped is kinda hard to ignore

I just bring my solar panles and charge all day 2 1600 power supplies for my 12s packs and the panels don't take up that much room. Cost me 400 bucks for the panels. Then when it rains I don't fly
