I would not use the mig electronics in this plane. To heavy a load for the system in my opinion. Better suited for indoor or very light Parkflyer micro.

Too bad the MiG rx probably can't run this F86. I'm still favoring this one over the GP F86 though, due to the scale factor and apparently better durability. Its just irksome that, stock, the eflite MiG will have better stability than the 86, when the opposite was the case with the fullsize planes...

OK, I am going to try a maiden with this thing today. First EDF but I can fly a micro eflight Sbach. I know I will have to keep the speed up on this thing. Will try for just a 3 min flight. Using 250mah 3s batts from Thinderpower. I figured what the heck, I have so many unbuilt models, I need to fly one of them. Lets see what happens!

OK tried it out, as expected it did not go so well, but it's only dented a bit in front, so it will fly again. My observations are as such: I tried twice, the first time it flew level but was inverted upon launch, so I was attempting to roll it. It rolled as slow as a glider! I thought that can't be right. It should have snapped over quickly, but maybe there was not enough airspeed. It hit the ground before I could roll it level. Second launch went better, but not enough airspeed. it is balanced but dipped and bounced off the ground lightly, then went forward and climbed, but then stalled and went down again. This thing is underpowered. Amazing. a little brushed motor on my micro T-28 with a 3.7v battery pulls itself along but 11.1v on a ducted fan cannot. This is my first jet. I really did have it on that second lauch, and those watching thought I had control of it too, they saw that it just could not climb out, lack of power. What should I do? This thing should fly on 3S. I taped a nickel under the batter because it was tail heavy. A larger 400mah battery might help but not much. 4s is ridiculous for this little bird. Do I need to buy 4s batteries? Will the motor and ESC take it?

i flew mine on 360mah 4s lipos it needed weight in the back but it flew fast and plenty of power. The stock ESC works just fine, i dont know witch type of 6a esc it is but it looks like the same as the turnigy and hobbyking 6amp esc but those ones cant handle 4s at all.

Where did you find such little 4s batteries? Seems there are several here that fly them on 3s, should be sufficient. I paid a premium for these little 250 3s batts.

Also, I have a nickel taped under the battery. Since it has a hard time lifting, maybe I should remove that nickel and try again. It might fly then.

Sounds like I should keep flights to 3 mins with stock batteries.

mine stock with a 3s 320mah TP was nose heavy i had to move it to the way back to fly correctly.

I used 2 2s 360mah lipos in series. I live in colorado so im a mile high and on 3s it wasnt very exiting to fly but on 4s it was pretty cool

Check a little back further in the thread---The motor can handle 4S just fine but my ESC let the magic smoke out...I replaced it with either a 10 or 12 amp Turnigy ESC...I've used the new 300mAh NanoTech batts (2S batt packs in series) and the weight was fine...This plane is very underpowered on 3S IMHO...

I really can't see why the HH MiG guts wouldn't work...The control surfaces are rather stiff when new so I would cut them free and rehinge them using micro barbed hinges...

My HH MiG is faster on 3S than this plane is on 4S so I don't think that speed would hurt the servos...

To be honest---You really need to go 4S on the stock sytem if you want this plane to perform...There's not really anything you can do to put this plane on a diet either...

For those of you wanting to assemble one from spare parts I would modify the plane for a 35mm fan...

Im not liking the airframe so im gonna build somthing else. Ive order a AERO 8blade 35mm rotor to try out on this system

I have some of the 180mah nano tech 2s packs. I guess I could modify a pair, but there's no room for a series connector. but if I modify them ,I have to use a 4s jst balance plug or I can't charge it. If it won't fly on a battery that I can buy for a few bucks it's more trouble than it's worth. Time to stop messing with the little ones and build that A-10 kit I have in the shed!
