Here is how I did the tailerons.

  • I bent a piece of wire with 7 down angle at each side of the center, just wider than the fuse body and glued it to the fuse after poking it through the body just under the bottom turtle deck piece in the TLAR position.
  • I then added little aluminium tube tabs with some pre-shrunk heatshrink tubing over the wire on each side.
  • I CA'ed the little aluminium tabs in place to hold the heatshrink in between them - making sure the heatshrink was free to move.
  • I then glued the tailerons onto the heatshrink - being careful not to drip or spread the glue onto the wire (or it will lock up of course).
.

I hope the images help the description. Yes, that's all that's holding them on while going 70mph!!!

For those of you interested in a template for the exit pipe, I've attached one for use as a guide. This is to suit a 25mm case.

Thats a sweet little bird!!

Hi there Nitro,
Met last night at the indoors at ETSA, we were talking micro retracts.
What a great little EDF!!! Im tempted to buy the plans.

Just a few questions: Is it an easy build?
Are the guts you recommend noted in the manual??

Regards,
Nath.

Hi Nathan, glad you like it.

It is an easy build being box construction.

I only mention the type of rxer I used.

The power unit still has to be home brew although the cases etc can be purchased from the Team30 Shapeways shop.

Cheers David,

How hard is it to make your own home brew 25mm fan??? Is that also in the instructions?? If not what parts do you recommend for this model?
Also what do you reckon about me doing an ailerons version with elevator and rudder based on using your plans?
Or do you reckon its overkill?
Cheers,
Nath

It's not that hard to do but no the instructions focus on the model not the power unit as there are many ways to do it.

I can help if you get stuck or need pointers - just PM me.
