I joined the SFMYC last weekend. Great club to join.
I visit THE CITY often as my eldest works there. I have also checked out Spreckels a few times and think it would be fine, if alright with the boaters. I personally couldn't fly a large or fast plane there, do to the area and amount of visitors, but think I might give it a try after I resurrect my Drake II. I think it would be a super place for the new micro Carbon Cub on floats. The great things about the pond (it isn't really a lake) is that it is fresh water, has total access with a concrete walk around the parameter and is deep enough for the sailboat keels... A flipped plane would not snag on anything and would eventually blow to shore...
I live 2 1/2 hours north of SF, in an area with quite a few of ponds, lakes and slow moving rivers so am kicking myself for not having a usable ROW plane.
