Here's a link to the English Instruction Manual for the F-45.
http://www.mjxtoys.com/UploadFile/F45EN.pdf

It says on Page 7:
  • Insert the battery plug into the helicopter battery socket located at
the right side of the helicopter, then, the indicator light of the helicopter
will keep flashing rapidly, set the helicopter down to a platform.
  • Slide the power switch to “ON” position. To activate the remote
controller, slowly push up the throttle stick to the top and then push
it down to the bottom. The remote controller is activated once you hear
a beep sound. Then, the indicator light flashes rapidly while the remote
controller is sending out connectional signal.
  • When the whole auto signal connection process is finished, push up the
throttle stick slowly and the helicopter takes off.
  • User may push either of the control sticks to skip the auto signal
connection process once the helicopter finished signal connection.
  • Once the transmitter is turned off, the connection procedure must be
    repeated to operate the helicopter.
  • Please pull out the battery plug from the helicopter battery socket.

if it binds with the sequence you use I see no problem anyhow you do it. I have always bound the heli this way and will continue to do so. The tx is the last thing I turn on throttle up and down and it's bound to the heli always with no problems. The V911 tx on rare occasions didn't bind successfully with the first attempt and this happened on both V911 tx's that I currently own so it s not a one time glitch. happy flying folks

Nice video. Are you sure you want to go back to brushed? It won't perform like that.

The way you bind is the way I bind. I always plug in the heli first with all my helis except the Xeida 9958 which has no control circuitry to require the tx be bound.
The process to turn on the tx first and then power up the heli is a safety feature that was used in older radio/ESC systems that did not have good fail safes like most do today, very similar to the Xeida.
Going by the manual method is prefered by the manufacturer.
ps
The other reason to turn on the tx first is when flying with buddies. I have no friends so it is not an issue for me. If you both fly the same heli, it is possible to end up with both helis bound to on tx if the tx is not sending a signal when the heli is power up. Rare, but is does happen as per the 9116 thread.

Don't know really because it is very fast now I think it can go past the 50km/hr mark with this motor and I don't have a big open clear flying area near me there's always a pole or electricity wires in the way!!

Come on fellas, go easy on this old noob...

I read the manual (english version) and I guess I'm a slow learner, I didn't pickup on the "copter on first", then the TX.

But, since I was born dumb, I'll trust all of you experts and do it your way - that is, once I get the bird in my ugly ole paws..

Thanks for the help, guys.

... Lennie

From one seller it will cost you $123.50 USD plus shipping to build from parts

Although I just noticed that doesn't include the swash and body frame...

Better off buying a complete Heli and selling the TX

I noticed tonight that Banggood is starting to get some spare parts for the F-45. The list will probably grow with time.

I have a suggestion that will make your Heli more manageable.
Get some extreme fibre 10degree blades.
These will move you throttle at hover and general flying closer to 50% stick. If you have stock blades, you are probably at 35% stick.
It also increases head speed which increases response and stability against wind.

Those and a DD extreme tail motor conversion are next on my agenda but I am buying a spare stock tail motor just in case it suddenly gives up on me as I don't want to be grounded right now coz it's a blast to fly now

Too many options to decide right now I'm torn between getting a 500-550 clone or this ;
