Stickers different on transmitter. Something funny, they repeated the same mistake, Mode 4 in Mode 2, on the new transmitter. There is no difference in the helicopter. They didn't made the effort of increasing the size of the rotor head loops, the weakest part of the F45.

Thanks Brent,
Lookin at the pic, I think i will shorten the mainshaft and linkages to give it that fbl look, lower the blades closer to body, would look in my eyes better. More original.
Making the guns and turbine outlets and landing gear will be abit of a pita I think, but no prob for me though, have a mill and a lathe to play with for stuff like this, thats what prototype guys are for.

anybody here think of a way to run landing gear off the camera pins?
something for the electric guys 1 servo that I modified for constant movement, turns when power is on.

When I first thought of building an airwolf around a F45, witch I finally did, I was planning to use the camera switch for retract. Hobbyking has a lot of different retracts. I suggest that you calculate the weight of everything you want to add to the F45. My F45 airwolf is only 45 gr. more then the stock F45 but it make an important difference when flying. You can add the projected weight to the stock F45 and check the flight you will get. The fuselage is also 100% more affected by the wind.

I would check for flybar conflicts with the body before lowering too much. If they can hit in normal swing, you may have issues as the whole thing will come done if that occurs. Either that, or limit the flybar travel so it cannot hit the body.

Well done man,
I have to check a bunch of things when doing this kit.
Lots of stuff to do on it before painting, adding the wings and scoops will be interesting at that, than comes the mechanical stuff afterwards,
Nothing for a days work if ya want it to look good.

Hey Guys,

i recently purchased the MJX F45. Today I made the first flight and this thing is awesome. I had really much fun.. This community here seems to be really big. Is there anyone who can recommend a good lipo replacement battery? I don't want to go through all the 389 pages.

Thank you and greetings from Austria,
Markus

This gave me the feeling that I am not alone, that my problems were not unique, and a 'band of brothers' existed that were as passionate about this copter (and R/C in general) as I. I found guys that were (and are) far advanced in this hobby, and more than willing to share their wealth of knowledge with lowly peons such as I. Just reading the thread gave me ideas in areas where I didnt see much input... and I added my '2 cents worth'. Sure it took a couple weeks of reading to take in this thread, I believe a time well invested, as I had a 20 year holiday from the hobby. Perhaps, asanovrus, it is you that arent well suited for this. I intend to keep flying F45's (mostly stock) and I intend to remain on station, assisting the greenhorn and seasoned hand EXACTLY as those dedicated fellows assisted me.
Now I can use the soapbox to start a fire... my old bones are cold.
Cheers to the crew
+1 more.

Take your time, fly it stock - with the "must do" mods which are easy to find - and get to know the heli.

During this time (cos you can't be flying ALL the time - even John ) get to know the guys and what they've all been getting up to, take what you want or need out of it, and start modding to your own requirements. I've found a lot more here than just a few guys who can mod helis and more.

I might still know nothing, but I know a lot MORE nothing than I did a couple of weeks age

Will require some minor mods to battery holder, but fits well otherwise and has right connectors.
Hope this helps - If you don't want to mod the heli at all, the stock is nearly as good as any.

Welcome to the thread. You can see all the generally agreed basic mods for stock F45s on my blog page, if you wish.

Cheers

Ohhhh man, Do I have to reveal all my secrets?
After painting, top side will be glued, on the bottom, ya use cellophane tape (the clear stuff) so you can open it up and remove the chassis.
This fuse is real thin, but as durable as the F-45.
Paint will be applyed on the inside,Lexan paint.

Been thinking some more about your 'collate the important stuff, and close the thread' idea (and your kind offer to be the collator).
But feel your though your idea may have validity, your quote above suggests that perhaps - if we are to go this way - it would be better to have someone with a lot of experience here doing the editing. I'd suggest Gordonzo himself, BThirsk, or Markkona as being pioneers here: I know I've learned a lot from them.
But it would take the judgement of Solomon to work out what should be kept, imo. You may feel (eg) my 'Frankencopter' to be of no interest here - but (if so), why 50+ pageviews of pics?.
And there's ongoing contributions of interest, too. Fauconniers findings re yaw affecting cyclic - affects stock F45s, was of great interest to me and many others, and new to these pages.
As Bob says, there are a great many nuggets of interest spread through all 380 pages here, covering all aspects of things F45 related No-one is forced to read them all, but at least anyone can choose to: Rexless' great videos are hardly essential, but have offered inspiration to me, and I'm sure again - many others.
And the F45 thread is FAR from the biggest in rcgroups.
There is a social aspect here, too. So my vote is to leave things as they are, but perhaps another thread or sticky of basic mods for newcomers. In the interim, these (approved by both Markkona and Gordonzo) are listed on my blog.
Cheers
John

new F45 tx/rx

Has anyone tried the new rx with a bl motor? I fitted a park 370 bl in my new F45 and upon binding the motor reved up to about 50% for about 3 seconds and then went to idle as it should...It was enough power to lift the heli...I tested and programed two other esc,s and motors and had the same result...I then tested the motor/esc with an old tx/rx combo...worked normally.....Guess I,m wondering if the new rx works this way or if mine is defective......Thanks ZDAWG
