Long story short.. you're new to this hobby so don't start out with anything but a high wing trainer. Even with 100 hours practicing on a simulator, it's no substitute for the real deal. We don't get a "reset button" when you crash at the field. We get GLUE! ![]() You mentioned wanting to get a radio you can grow with and had a few choices, in an earlier post, of planes you were considering. I would get a DX6i and the BNF Apprentice. If you know someone else that flies, have them take off and get you a few mistakes high (at least 100 feet up) and then have him give you the controls. If you're on your own, find the biggest place you can to fly. The bigger the area, the more "elbow room" you have to goof up a little here and there until you get accustomed to your plane. Before you know it, you'll be ordering that T-28 Trojan. And NOT crashing it!

sounds good...
I appreciate your input and at the moment I am inclined to say that is exactly where I will go. BNF Apprentice and either the six channel Pfoenix or Futaba. I may consider the Turnigy or Turnegy?sp? 9ch controller also.
Still not in a hurry to do anything but read, look and listen to what others have to say. You might say that I am in the "binding" mode with this hobby.

(At least that's what i've read in the forums) ![]() I've had my trusty DX7 for almost 5 years now, and with the $6 Orange Rx receivers so easy to get, it's probably the way i'll be staying. Sure I may one day save up half a grand and buy the JR X9503 but, it may not be THIS year. Not when there are so many new planes coming out! ![]() My wife will probably be chasing me with the broom on a few occasions this year, hahahahaha! |

I think I'm going to order an Apprentice PNP from amainhobbies as they have a discount coupon and good customer service. No radio yet and I have to decide which to get - I will be investing in a mid-range radio but not any of the Spektrums.
Can't wait as the Apprentice seems to be a nice flying plane that comes recommended. |
