So is a good pattern sequence harder to fly than the open(3d) style flying for you?

Gosh what a tough question.... They are hard in different ways... although not as exciting or dramatic, the f3a stuff like the single rolling loops and circles and the super slow rolling stuff is work on it for a year and not get it right tough. Love working on that stuff. BUt rolling a 40% plane a foot off the ground is a whole different kind of tough. All I know is without the F3A stuff, I wouldn't be one fifth the pilot I am... Which is still hardly anything But you know what I mean!

Even if you fly 3d, if you don't fly straight lines... you will never look like a really good pilot.

I think learning pattern style flying makes better 3d pilots.

But it's hard not to go out there and just toss the plane around after practicing rolls over and over again and still not perfecting them.

The sense of accomplishment is really great, and personal satisfaction. It is just so different... YOU can fake your way in 3d a bit... not with pattern... YOU put in the time or else wouldn't be without either. My heart is always 3d though.

Nice flying Michael, much harder to look good in precision flying than 3D in my opinion.

I think any kind of flying, 3d, pattern, heli, slow-stick, buddy boxing with a 8 year old, etc make you a better pilot

That was an excellent F3A video Micheal. Nice camera work, and great flying.

Micheal, have you ever flown the Hobby King F3A Rainbow? It's essentially a scaled down, EPO clone of the Osmose. It represents a very inexpensive airframe choice to get started in F3A. I'd to see video of you flying one.

I'd flown one and it had a technical problem... no fault of the plane. So it felt pretty good there for the 50 seconds it flew!

I might get to fly again soon.

We were referring to the ADX and KE spins.

I can get mine to do them if I'm very gentle with rudder and throttle but its ever so sensitive.

Just used to edges and mxs that love being tossed into KE spins.
