Real Deal

Being the guy who does the video taping for MW, and some of the building of the planes you all have seen on these videos, there is NOTHING retouched, over-edited, fixed or more original than what you see. I'm the one standing there, watching all these maneuvers in the viewfinder, as the plane is, out of the box!
I know all the other guys who build the planes, they all build them EXACTLY as they are instructed by the build information provided, and I will swear on my retired military Officer integrity that the flight sequences are exactly what the plane can and does do!
There are planes that fly better than some others, but what you see and have seen is what you get!
I hope this quiets any non-believers or naysayers about what these planes can and do out of the box! MW just flies them to his limits, which I see routinely and are exceptional to say the least.

I have to admit I was pretty bent when I saw the orange, glad it's not around anymore. I do have an objective opinion, I fly what works at the level I do. So I fly PA and E/F, great planes. If a PA team pilot is on board here it lends a lot of credability. I'm a mere mortal, I LIKE the violent stuff, gimme' one and I'll WRING it out and give you an objective opinion. Take all the video you want. People ask me to fly their planes all the time and I give them an objective opinion. Again flying is easy landing is hard so HAPPY LANDINGS!

Ok Guys.

Just fired up my motrofly Dm2820-750 for this plane with 4s and a vox 14x7 prop.

Measured the amps that peaked at 40A and 624watts roughly.

Bit disappointing I think for a 4s setup. I was expecting something well over 800W with that prop and 4s setup.

Learned that one the hard way myself on a bigger brushless--even more important there with greater pull and more weight. Pulled the c clip off...

Let us know how she flies!

BR, I just looked up the specs and they say you could expect 710watts max. The 624watts you are getting seems low. The motor information said that on 4s at 50a you should get the 710w max. I'm wondering if the ESC is limiting the current down to 40a.

What ESC you using?

Roger,

I have a Motrolfly 2820-950 that I'm running on my Extreme Flight RC 48" MXS-EXP (GREAT airplane by the way) and I get 900w at 60a with a 12x6.
Granted I'm running (200kv x 15v) 3000rpm faster than you, so I can't compare my numbers with the prop you're using. Maybe a 15x7 or 15x8 might get you better results. I did have to "prop-up" from Ken's recommend 15x7 to a 15x8 on the 4315-480kv motor I've got in my 3DHS 59" AJ Slick (GREAT airplane by the way), to get the performance I wanted. Either way, the Motrolflys are GREAT motors, I have two and they're excellent!

Good luck mate!

** on a side note, I did have to send a 3620-480 back to Ken to get rewound, after it was running 50kv below specs. He fixed me up and shipped it back inside a week though, so I'm still a loyal customer! **

hmm you can prop up some with those numbers but lets talk esc settings and batteries.
I get around 700 watts with mine.My KV may vary a tad from yours tho.
