Sorry. I was trying to say that how well the A3Pro head holding holds (or drifts) remains to be seen, while this thread has reports on how well the Guardian head holding holds.
I have reworded my post to try to better reflect this.

For those who jumped in early on the 1st pre-order and ordered a few extra units, if you care to part with one let me know, looks like all the resellers are also sold out of the 1st batch.

Thanks,

FCA

ET website is updated - 1st batch of pre-orders will be shipped between middle to late June, that's good enough for me

I may have missed this detail along the way, but are the modes (2D, 3D, etc.) and the gains controlled by the same channel like rate and HH are controlled on a typical gyro? Or are modes and gains on separate channels ?

Thanks,

Dick

All, I wanted to do a quick update re Guardian ship date. There are still a very few things that can go wrong (Murphy and entropy, primarily), but at this point my confidence is high that we will begin shipping the first production run in mid/late June. I want to again say how much I appreciate your patience, and the enthusiasm about this product!

Dick, there are a few configuration options, but the ideal one is to have a 3 position switch controlling the mode, and a knob controlling the gain. But, neither of these is required, of course. The settings can be adjusted on the ground via the potientiometers, the radio stick menus and/or the PC UI, if you do not have free Rx channels.

So I get the big 72" slick out to the field today. Get it all set up. Wind is about 15-17 mph. Wind hits plane, plane knocks transmitter off of bench into the sand. Sand in everything. 3 Pos switch now will not work. Blew the 3pos switch out with air and it's still not working. Now to dis-assemble the Aurora 9 and take the darn switch/s apart. Hopefully before tomorrow. If not for bad luck I'd not have any.

Talk about Murphy. That's so sad, it's almost funny.

HansAuf,

That's not the kind of flight report I was looking for.

Hope you get things straightened out.

Bill is it possible for ET to post directions on how to set up the gain to be controlled via a knob on the radio

Users such as myself will need to be able to select high gain for landing, and lower gain for high speed flight

Thanks,

FCA

Yuck!! That is worse than my bad Tx story: I had my Tx (Hitec Flash 5) sitting out in the sun in the field on a spring day (70 to 80 degrees F?). I turn on my Tx and I notice that all the memory settings have been scrambled, often to illegal values that I could not even input (like -256 instead of between 0 and 125). Fortunately, the memory settings for the non-selected models were not altered at all. And I write down what settings I put into a model (been dealing with electronics long enough not to really trust them). The best guess is that the sun hitting the black Tx cover plastic heated it enough to make the electronics scramble all the settings of the selected model when the Tx got turned on.

Do you have a dial or nob on your radio?? If so you can have complete control over your gain level by putting the gain on the channel that has the knob, or assign the knob to the channel that you have the gain connected too.

For example, on my jr radio, i have the the mode going to gear, which is assigned a three position switch. I have the gain going to aux1 which i have mapped to a dial. You can then dial in the amount of gain you want for every flying condition.

To reduce pilot workload during take-off and landing, some users, especially with scale planes, might find it useful to use an existing function to control mode or gain, like gear or flaps or air-brakes. You could perhaps have gain high when gear is down and lower when gear is up or 2D when flaps are extended and 3D when they are up.

Al - I see myself using mostly the 2D mode for wing leveling,
To keep is simple let say a gain of
70% for pitch
60% for roll

Works well at slow speeds 1/4 throttle, as we all saw in aero's video the moment he increased speed, his plane started to oscillate, due to too high of a gain for the higher speed

Hence the need for a slider or knob to control the gain
Now coming back to the values I've listed above
Is it safe to say that if the gain control knob/slider is at 100%, that would be 100% of 70% pitch, 60% roll, and if the dial is adjusted while the plane is inflight to let's say 50% then the pitch would be reduced to 35%, and roll to 30% ?

I am pretty sure most users will probably have no use for various or adjustable gain, so for them it should be a rather straight forward process, of set it and forget it

Any idea if E/T will be releasing the manual early

Thanks,

FCA

Radio fixed. Trailer loaded. Cooler with water and mtn dew 7 hours left of work. Let's do this.
