Based upon the suggestions I received I have modified the receiver(s) installation.

I added 1/4" foam to the bulkhead but cut a square hole the same size at the velcro squares I am using. That allows me to press the receiver to the velcro and the receiver is gently pressed up against the foam.

I also added foam at the bottom (top of the fuse) that the plugs rest against. There is also a small piece of foam between the receiver and the battery to the rear under the servo tray.

Lastly I decided to mount the satellite receiver on the servo tray instead of the side of the fuse this allows the satellite to sit on the velcro and provides a cushion for vibration. The antennas are still perpendicular to each other.

Any thoughts?

Thanks as always.

Doug

Andy and others,

Should I purchase an extension (12" or 18") and mount the satellite farther back in the fuselage? Seems like cheap insurance for the $10 the extension would cost me. However, if the install I have now is fine then why bother?

Thanks,

Doug

I just did my first Spektrum install in something other than park flyer size plane. My impression / thought is - these receivers should come with a 12" extension from the start! If you have to snake the satellite cable at all, you just can't them get them that far apart. The Best Practices for installation says you want the remotes "far" apart. Can't see how you can do that with a 6"? cable....

As far as spacing goes, my thought is the length of the wing saddle would be ideal, one receiver near the leading and trailing edge. That should give you a nice spacing between the main and satellite. Looking at your install, my feeling would be to get the satellite farther back, behind the last servo so it is out there by itself.

Chuck,

I agree. I guess its hard to not spend $10 for a little piece of mind. I'm probably gonna hit the LHS at lunch. I am going to put it back in the fuse past the trailing edge on the side of the fuse.

Wish I could get this $1 cable for less than $10.

Thanks,

Doug

Found a less expensive solution.....

Anybody used this "ProTek" brand before.

This 12" extension is $3.49 at A Main Hobbies.

Thanks,

Doug
