I've got this plane, and this motor, what motor mount do I need?

I'm looking to get this plane flying again to teach my little brother how to fly. Don't want to bother with gas and I have a perfect motor lying around- this one. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=4907

So, here are some pictures of the motor mount on the plane, and the motor I have. Are there any off-the-shelf motor mounts I could buy to make this fit?

Thanks!

You could just make the correct size standoffs or there is this-

By standoffs, do you mean just get some long bolts and some spacers for them? Would that be stable enough?

Yes, here is one I did. It is a common way to install a motor and very stable. I think I used 3/8" aluminum rod with this one.

Nice! It looks like you have the standoofs drafted inward, to avoid drilling new holes- is that holding up well?

Thanks, I think you are seeing distortion from the camera lens though. The standoffs are perfectly straight. The holes did not line up and had to drill new holes and use blind nuts. Really easy. Rock solid.

An alternative is to use an intermediate plate.

I think the way Dave did it would be better in your case. Very slick! Many people use nylon standoffs you can find easily at your hardware store but usually are only about an inch long.

Every piece of HW there was dumpster scrounged from one of my jobs over the years, except for the longest screws- those I just had lying around.

If anyone needs to source hardware and aluminum plate and all kinds of crazy stuff, mcmaster-carr is nothing less than awesome.

Here's a page from Heads up r/c with nylon standoffs and mounting bolts.
http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...ffs/Categories

And here's another page from their catalog showing a large motor and how it's mounted in an RV-8.
Scroll down 1/2 the page.

Their shipping is $2 !!
