30 degs and no wind (or obsessed and loving it)
Hello
If any of you are obsessive/compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) I'd like to hear from you. I have it.
My obsession for a year has been rc aircraft of any shape or size. As long as it can presumably fly I want to try flying it.
I remember last year flying the Champ with my 6 yr old son in a snow covered field. Even while it was snowing. I'm so dependent on it now that a 30 deg day with no wind is a good day to fly. I like to fly things with bigger batteries when it's less than 35 degs because the little 1S batteries don't hold a charge very long in those temps. When it's less than 30 degs I want to go out and fly but when that first gust of hits my face I usually go back inside. Then I either go fly in a gym or spool my heli up in the house just to hear the sound.
I flew the Champ a few mornings ago around 6:45 am. It was 34 degs with no wind. Nevermind no sun either. Perfect for flying the Champ. I stepped out into the yard and let her go. To the east the sun was starting to rise and to the west a full moon was on the way down. So I flew for a while, alternating the backdrop for my Champs silhouette.
Today I had to choose between buying Valentine cards for my Wife and kids and going by a local park and flying a wing I just happened to have with me. I also happened to have my DX6i and a spare battery. You never know when you might have to stay late at work or get stranded and can't make it home before dark. I have that one just for emergencies.
Anyway, I managed to do both with a little effort. I went to the card shop first. Then I went to the park for a few minutes. Then I went to another store for flowers. Then I came home and God was by my side. The sun was setting behind the trees and I just knew He would grant me another 15 minutes. So I flew 2 wings till dark....
Tomorrow is Valentines day. I've told myself I won't fly any aircraft or flight simulator after work. I told my friend I can't come watch him fly his new heli.
I'm open for the morning though. And I'll have my emergency wing in case I have some time before I leave work.
Can I go without flying tomorrow after work? Sure, I'm not worried. I got it covered.
