I love my Skywalker 1900.
Hi everyone, just reporting on the performance of my newly built Skywalker 1900. All I can say is that it is brilliant. Yesterday I had a flight of 1 hour, 10 minutes and 47s on a 5000mAh turnigy battery. It actually thermal soars and I can go for over 4 minutes at a time with no power. I built it light with virtually no modifications at all and have found that it is absolutely fine that way if you chose to do that. The only thing I did was to add a bit of fibre tape to the bottom of the fuselage for it to land on and also a bit at the centre of the wing where the rubber bands sit. My experience so far has indicated that there is no need for any extra reinforcing just as long as you don't do any high stress maneuvers outside its design limitations. I also replaced the bolt holding the canopy on with a magnet. My ESC is in the top compartment and I have had no problems with that. The only painting I have done is the wingtips, a very bright luminous orange. I am in the process of setting it up for FPV. In the meantime I have been getting some spectacular aerial footage using a small camera mounted on the side of the fuselage.

Hi.
AX2814 kv980, 40A esc, 9x6 APC prop, Running on 2 x 4s-2200mah. Want to get a folding prop, also working on a gyro stabilized mount, need to get higher kv motors for the disks, running two od25x6mm Carbon disk at 25k rpm to smooth the movements, and using gravity to get straight horizon. |

Hey to all. I am thinking of using http://www.heliland.com/catalog/inde...oducts_id=3081 and make a modification to fit a 10x6 APC. Using ecalc.ch i got that it would give me almost 2kg of thrust at max efficiency which is about 11 amps. I think it would be enough to carry 2x5000mah 4S batts. Any ideas??

I'm flying the new Skywalker 2013 with CF tail and 1900 wings from bevrc with the bevrc power combo. it's a 980kv motor with a 9x6 prop and a 40 amp ESC. You can fit a 12" prop easily.
With my set up, I can cruise at 4.5-5A and I have caught thermals with full FPV gear, one 5000mah 4s, one 2200mah 3s, and one 1000mah 3s, and all other gear and actually climbed with no throttle! I have the previous 1900 version too and they seem to perform very similarly but this one has way more fuse room and is much easier to transport with the new horizontal stab. i had some issue with wing twist at first but once i fix it the plane flew great... here are some vids:

Hi
A 20min flight with one 4000mAh 4s battery used up 2000mAh. I plan to fly with two 4000mAh's, which should give me an hour of flight time. The camera/vtx battery now is only 650mAh 3s, so I will put in a 1300mAh instead for the longer flights. I',m flying with the stock bevrc motor, esc and an APC 9x6 prop. Cruise at 4-6A and WOT 25A. I guess I was lucky, but the 1900 I have flew very smooth right out of the box. Only needed one click of aileron trim.
(Need to build those CP antennas, as well as a GoPro pan/tilt...) |
