pull the plug, then connect it back to the ignition. then by holding it, ground it to the muffler. then spin the prop. there should be no compression, so spinning it should be rather easy. you should be able to see if it is getting a spark or not.

Very difficult in daylight, just wondering if there was dome sort of device you could hook up to the igntion plug that would make it easier.

Found this on the net, suppose it works!!?? Wonder what makes it spark without flipping a prop?

WrongWay Cam tests the Rc-Exl igniton spark tester (2 min 30 sec)

Spark plug..... Make sure it's gapped properly and do not touch metal with your hands! Hold onto the insulated wire.

Just grab the end of the spark plug and GENTLY rotate the engine. You'll feel a buzz if it's firing. Don't do this if you have a pacemaker.

If you can't see it spark in daylight, you probably need a new plug. It should be pretty visible no matter what.

We did this when I first got my DA60 two years ago, could not get it to start so and expierienced guy did the above and we could not see the spark. He said something about a resistior in the plug that makes it difficult to see.

you should be able to see the spark in the daylight, if not you have an issue. you can hear and feel it too.

Touch your tongue to it like checking a 9v battery...report the results back here.

Proper gap can easily be achieved with a #11 exacto blade.

I can't always see spark in bright sun, I usually just listen for it or get in the shade.

LMAO, +1, listen for it, it clicks with each revolution of the prop as the spark advances.
