My omega motor was making some weird noises. I took it off and brought it over to let Ben take a look at it while I was at FLI. He told me to tighten the bolts on the prop adapter.

Problem solved.

Anyone know where to get metric axles or does it matter think something else will work and fit the wheel and landing gear hole.

Pretty much any wheel with a 3/16" hub could be drilled out to fit, as there is only a difference of .011"... 3/16" is .1875" and 5.04mm is .1985. Drill the wheel out with a #8 drill, which is .1990", so....0005" difference..

This is actually a pretty good lesson. I think we are all probably guilty of jumping to the assumption that a more complex issue is at hand when we are faced with a problem. It always pays off to check the simple things first!

My version of that lesson was at the other end of the motor - the motor mount bracket was coming loose from the motor.

The lesson I got from that is always use loctite on motor mounts.

I was going to... but it arrived too fast for me to organise it. it's only a couple of hours drive from my employer and only a couple of hours from AMain Hobbies to the north... if they hold it again next year, maybe I can get there...
