This maneuver seems to vary a bit from airframe to airframe. On airframes where I feel it tumbling rather than spinning I find that the transition to opposite aileron has to be very quick. If you hold the first aileron (depending on which way you go) too long then it will simply tumble.

Try speeding up your transition to the opposite aileron and see if that helps.

slow the inputs down.....my 89 does poptops easier than anything ive ever had my hands on including the sim...its NOT the plane...unless you have very little throw on the control surfaces

Pop tops are all about timing. I got my little primo 15 to do an awesome pop top the other day. First and only time I've done it with that plane too. The window of opportunity for moving the sticks to achieve pop top is super small with that plane since it carries basically no momentum.

+1, I found my best pop top plane was the old 70. couldn't get the same thing on the 71. Difference? 70 has 985's and 71 super fast ds610(savox). I slowed down the inputs and presto! I can do them(poorly) Joe style, slam sticks upper corners, then full down and left stick left corner. then a little throttle to keep it going(I think). My fingers don't usually move as fast as needed for this one.

I have come to the conclusion that fast servos aren't necessarily a good thing! I loved my old 985's... have had some difficulty adjusting to the fast servos!

Well - you should see these darn airtronics servos I've got on my new (to me) EF 60" Edge. Those things are like grandma slow. I need to switch them out soon. I mean there's normal speed, fast speed and then you've got these...

Kick up your Expo 10-15% and every other flight reduce by 2% to get used to it gradually.

+1 on 985s. I think they are plenty fast, at least for my capabilities. Smooth and reliable too.
