HITEC HS-85MGs
4S LiPo 2600mah 25C (not ordered - any recommendations?)

Thanks,

I use deans on just about everything (except for small foamies, then I use micro JST).. A friend uses power poles on his 89" Slick though.

I really like the specs on those Savox SC-1258TG...(thanks lammbn)
Also on amazon with my member ship I get them for 60.00 ea free shipping..

Instead of asking for each different part.... How about give me some specs of a good setup.

FOR THE: 74" Edge if your just tuning in.

My list of stuff to buy.
looking for...

*Motor, and KV
The Hacker A60-6xs in a vid on 6s, 5000mah seamed kinda week

*thinking im going with the Savox SC-1258TG

*I Have a ESC

*Seperate BEC to the Rx and servos??

*6s or 8S not sure yet. and Mah Size.

Batteries I have.
*6S but there 3000 Mah, to small im sure unless you say different
* bunches of 4S in 3500 mah, could use together as 8S.
Also if I went with 8S it would have to be 2x 4S = 8S because my charger only charges up to 6S

*Prop size to match that KV

Sounds like a good setup! You'll love the Slick!

I use Deans plugs on everything from a 38" EPP Slick to a 103" Extra. I would recommend getting the actual Deans, not an imitation brand.

I've had good luck with Turnigy packs and with GensAce from HobbyPartz. Lots of good battery choices available.

They were fast for sure. I tried running my 985's on A123 power and after 2 flights the 985's started to act strange in my 71 Slick. They were making a sound I never heard out of a servo before. Hitec never responded to my post in the MFG support so I returned them to Tower and replaced them with another slower servo I had on hand. It started with the right wing then the other. I replaced both then the elevator started doing it. I would love to know what was up. Here are the short videos I took.
Defective Hitec servo??? (1 min 27 sec)

Slick Tail (0 min 37 sec)

I would look into the motrolfly 5320. Great motor and tons of power. Its what i run custom wound for 6s. 4325 just not quite enough for great performance on this plane per ken at subsonicplanes. Use a CC BEC Pro! Dont use the internal bec. It sounds like you might already have suitable packs to double up for 8s. I would do that if they are good quality packs. If your buying new packs anyways you can go either way. Just decide what other planes the packs your using might work for one day. 4s 4000 for 55-60" planes or 2x 6s 5000 for 50cc electrics. You might also get away with two 6s 3000 packs in parallel for 6s 6000. With the 5320 you might not even notice the weight.

Also to add to post#843....
Should I worry about a high C discharge rating? It seams that on all the bigger planes videos on youtube most all of them are using 25C discharge rate... Ive been use to buying like 70-90 but that is for my Heli's.

My turnigy 20c packs work just fine but... my 35c gens ace packs rock and really bring the plane alive!

For 8s i have no idea. Figure for 2400-3000 watts. Not sure what kind of voltage sag others get at those ratings though. Ask losi. he is running one on a 71 slick. Im running 380kv for 6s on mine.

This is what I found so far to use for my new plane. Not to hard to pic out stuff like the small planes. Not much to choose from at this size.

for the 74" edge..

MotroFly 5320-300 ( i guess the -300 is KV ?)
Castle Creations Phoenix ICE 100
Castle Creations CC BEC Pro
Savox SC-1258TG Super Speed Titanium Gear Standard Digital Servo
Battery I have here Turnigy Nano Techs 8S, 3500Mah, 35C

That motor with a 19x8 prop I would look for atleast a 100amp. 18x8 or 18x10 you should be good with the 85amp but that motor is soooo much more powerfull with a 19inch pop on it (insert evil smilely here) It has more than enough power with an 18inch prop and a 85amp esc though

looks like its says 19x10 to 20x10.
What size ESC to get if I use the 20x10 or like a 20x8?
Reason... I was thinking the larger the prop the more prop wash the better hovering.
