This certainly speaks well of the real Willow. What's that little saying about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery? I guess the real one is a nice enough plane for the good folks of China to copy with inferior materials and methods and undercut the original.

I've been toying around with the idea of designing/building/selling as a side hobby/business, so I find this to be an interesting topic. (I'm nowhere near the skill/knowledge level yet, of course; just pondering.)

What do you guys think might happen if/when Chinese builders begin using good materials and methods for their knockoffs? I've seen some excellent results come out of China in other industries, so it seems likely that building high quality planes could be a reality.

What impact do you all think this will have on our hobby? Will we stop seeing new designs being developed? Will US/Euro designers quit the business, leaving only non-profit-seeking hobbyists? Will US pilots be flying nice copies of hard-to-find European models?

It's a difficult topic, but it may be something we'll have to deal with soon.

They say it is not a copy.and they make some nice big jets according to our government with some outstanding composites

Personally, I won't deal with ANY of these Chinese rip-off companies!! I"m not about undercutting someone that takes the time and effort to make a good product--and then let a "cheater Chinese" company rip them off. That's definitely NOT the American way! FWIW

Shame on them... but I do cringe every time I see people use Chinese and rip-off interchangeably. While the vast majority of knock-offs seem to come from China, I've seen one from the States (uh oh...). And, not every company in the China deals with rip-offs. We've spent several months doing the design and prototype work on our first kit we're coming out with, which was based on another design we worked on for several months.
I guess my point is please target the specific companies that are doing that, rather than using broad strokes and hurting the guys who are putting in the time, effort, and money into original designs and products.
