hexTronik 5gram rewinding to higher kv

I read the following in the HK page of this motor:

Magnus Elofsson
"I changed one motor to Delta for one cell operating and used FR 130mAh:
GWS 3x3 1,3A 10200rpm thrust ~35g
GWS 4x2,5 1,6A 9100rpm thrust ~45g."

Anyone can point me to this guy, or give me layman instructions how to change it to delta ?

Any other advice to get 30 grams thrust from single cell would be great !

Or, wouldn't be simpler to use a bigger prop ?
Some computations show me I should be able to get 50 grams with a 5x3 prop, drawing 0.9Amps, so in limits of the single cell 3A ESC...

What I see now is that using a 3x2 prop the motor is not able to lift his own weight from single cell, which is strange...

Thank you !

the 5g hextronix can provide more than 30g on 1s w/o rewinding (sorry I don't have exact figure as I just based on the air flow compare to other motor). You can use GWS 5030, motor not getting hot with full throttle. Other options are AP03 7200kv or 4000kv or AP-05 3000kv but will cost more than double.

I already bought 3 of them, I like to try first to get eveything I can from them before thrashing and look for others.
From the minimal knowledge I have about Y and delta windings, making such change does not implies effective rewinding, but only resoldering existing windings in other order, which I can do, just tell me how
I'll try 5x3 prop before anything anyway, ordering a 6 pieces pack.

A 5g Hxt is only 2000Kv. It won't get hot on 2S with a 5030, but I doubt it makes over 25g of thrust at 1S with that prop.

Its a great motor on 2S, but its pathetic on 1S.

I'm interested in one! lol but i'm guessing that it needs about 5600kv to work well one 1s.
I'm also thinking that might work for the ap03 but i'm not sure how many turns it would need!

You can avoid rewinding them by reconfiguring the magnets to NNSSNNSS.... which will double the kV.

I use that setup in my 1S Micro Christen Eagle etc. spinning a 4.1 prop. Lots of thrust and good performance.

Nitro, You answered me when I ask this before but it is confusing. Are you using eight total magnets or are you using all of them in NNSS configuration. I know they have to be an even number. Which do you use 8,10, 12 or 16 ?

I think you should use all magnet and join 2 together so in total you will have 8 double magnets. Btw, anyone know how many magnets on the AP-03 4000kv?

ill throw in my .02 as i just rewound my second BL motor. basics, less turns of wire, more Kv.
thicker wire, = more amp draw.

take apart. un wind. take 3 wire and solder one end of each together, leaving three free ends.
label the wires as A and B and C. then wind them in order, start anyware. make the same number of turns.
when you get to C, start from A.

its kinda hard to screw up, just keep track of how many turns, make sure they are all the same!
mostly, just try it. some times too much planning is a bad thing.

But changing magnets sounds far more simple...
Nitro, please...

The motor contains 16 small magnets, each arranged NSNS to give 16 magnet poles. What Nitro is saying is change the configuration to be NNSS to give 8 magnet poles (but still using all 16 magnets). Hopefully he will follow with a pic. His Christen Eagle flew well
