Looks like Italeri is releasing another MTB kit, this time Lt. Kennedy's PT-109.

So if one were to buy both Elco PT's and combine them almost any PT could be built.
Is Italeri on the right track and about to sell the sub-kits by themselves? By sub-kits, I mean the individual items, like torpedo tubes, or the 40mm Bofors, etc. The plastic parts are on seperate sprues already.

All they need now is the mid war radar and some additional guns and they will have it all.

latest seen at Steel Navy

I'll be interested to see how well they did the tubes... there's not a lot of info published on them, and they do have a lot of intricate details.
Glad they didn't slap a "PT-109" number on the bow!

oops, looks like just a clip from Hermill's pic...

New EARLY WAR Elco's

Will be interesting to see if the have moved the turrets to the correct Early Boats, positions. As far as being able to make any boat from the two, there are Early, Mid., and Late war house/turret configurations. But with the Radar Mast, it would be close enough that most people would not know. Also most early war boats got upgraded to Mid war configurations. CB

I doubt that but will continue with separate kit releases as they have. I asked the same thing to Italeri's sales manager at the 2008 SIME when they were showing their S-100 hull & she was't too enthused about the idea.

Getting PT Details

One of my locale military hobby shops, showed me a list of figures, and detail upgrades for the Elco. Some, (metal barrels) match kit parts, others don't. After the kit is out, maybe I can get a current list, and post it. CB

Well I looking forward for this one

I think this is great - looking foward in getting 2 when this come out - I bought 2 of the late war 80 to use one for parts just in case this happened, heck there were a whole bunch of early war boats that were just up graded and there are ton of pictures with all that strange weapons on board old deckhouses. This will be a nice addition and will get me to sell my last lindbeg PT boats or trade the off.

Happiness,
Rich

Is that just the camera angle or did they paint the deck tan?

Didn't the 109 have a anti tank gun of some sort mounted on the foredeck?

I think on the plans I've had forever it says they lashed the 37mm on the deck the day before it went down.

Pt-109

When shipped to the South Pacific, the boat was exactly as the plans show, for boats 103-117, Early 80' Elco's. Boat was painted a light/medium grey. CB
