idk dude, seems to me they've been working pretty hard to keep the policy makers off our backs. the insurance idea is cool, but I don't think there are nearly enough modelers out there to make it practical. also there would be no way to separate the conscientious modelers who set up planes correctly from the yahoos. unless you wanted to have yearly plane inspections...that's a whole other can of worms!!

the way that insurance works is that many pay in and the insurance company pays out as few claims as it can. typically i cant imagine more than 5-10% of people insured by a company actually make a claim each year. otherwise the company would go bankrupt. im sure the average claim is at least 300% of one policies yearly premiums are. I think in this case there would too high of a ratio of people paying into the insurance to claims each year. either that or it would be so outrageously expensive that you might as well just buy a bunch of back of airframes as your "insurance policy"
