I want the smart-fly because if a servo goes bad then there will be less chance of a brown out because the smartfly cuts it off.

My receiver can take it but if the servo ges bad then they usually draw more for no reason and it can burn up the receiver.

so I want to get one of those micro helis that can do all the fancy 3D trickery. I have an old DX7. which one do I get and what upgrades/mods do I get for it? open to suggestions but I'd prefer bnf.

+1 MCPX brushless http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...bl-bnf-BLH3980. There are others like, Nano CPX, 130x, and 300x though. Depending on how much you are willing to spend.

Nano Indoor/Outdoor, best crash survivability, parts cost.

mCPX BL Outdoors or a Gym size indoor. Not saying I wouldn't fly it in my living room though.

300x like a real outdoor Heli...

Love the 130X, it flys big and can take some wind,but needs some TLC.
Must have mods : metal A Gear and Lynx tail pitch slider.
HH has a sale on the 130X with extra batts and metal A gear.
