So, I heard they let Oscar Pistorius out on bail today.....But I heard he had to give up his passport and prosthetics...They figured he couldn't go anywhere as he wouldn't have a leg to stand on.....

Well when I got my 87" SHP today I took it out of the both and the hinges were already glued for everything but the rudder. Is this normal? Or are they not actually glued? They feel glued because I gave them a nice tug and they didn't budge.

That is normal....The rudder is not installed, as it would take a longer box. On smaller 3DHS planes, the elevator hinges are not glued, as the stab must be installed, then the elevators installed. On the larger 3DHS planes the stabilizers mount on carbon tubes and are held on with screws, so, they can have the hinges pre-installed....

Ok just making sure I wasn't being stupid. The other thing(not that this really matters) but where is the decal sheet? Or do those not come with the bigger ones either?

Well, this was an eventful week.

First, I plug in one of my batteries the other way around into my MPA parallel charger, which already had 4 other batteries hooked up in parallel. The over-current warning strips go red, I hear sizzling and start feeling the heat. I pulled the offending connection apart as fast as I could but the plastic JST connector just melted through. Close call - almost burnt down the house!

Then, and more relevantly to this thread, I had a signal failure (brownout, lockout, something! ) with my 47 SHP on landing approach. Straight and level until about a metre off the ground... then a sudden, fatal full aileron roll right into the deck. Really, really bummed out about this one . This red SHP was pretty much new, I barely had 100 flights on it, I had all the nice ADC vinyl on it and it was the plane that I was doing regular practice on to get a rolling circle going. It was just starting to click, too .

I really wish that I had smashed into the ground doing something stupidly beyond my skill level down on the deck - I usually find such crashes very amusing. Equipment failure is a way to go.

It's repairable, but not worth the effort IMO. It'll come out too heavy from the repairs. The wing tube holder inside the left wing tore through the bottom of the wing. The formers all down the fuselage are busted. The motorbox is lulz. The canopy and cowling took a beating. Worst of all, the 47 SHPs are not going to be in stock until some time in April or May.

I've collected all the splinters I could find so maybe if I'm feeling in a repair-y mood I'll sit down and go through it. However, I posted pics here and I'd like to take a straw poll of the experienced builders: anyone thinks it's repairable without making it a porky pig?

(also to console myself I bought me a brand spanking new EF 48" MXS... heh heh heh . And a flying buddy brought down an old 50cc plane which I can now confirm will fit fine in my car... ... ... the addiction, it grows...)

That'll work. Most people use these savox servos in their 70'' planes http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ium-Gear-Servo

The 7954 and 7955 are the same with different gears.

And before you ask the hs 7955 can be run on HV and Hitec has approved that but hasn't put it in writing anywhere most likely because they don't want to cut into sales of the 7954. Specs for the 2 servos should be similar at 7.4v
