I am looking at the Extra too....I want to practice my precision. The super vyper doesnt look good imo...thats out....but the yak?
What about the osiris? Not much throw....
Thanks,
Alex
For precision, if you don't want to go with a Vyper or Osiris, get the Extra SHP. Set up your servo arm geometry such that you have full resolution at smaller throws and do not mount the SFGs on the plane. Set it up with the cg as far forward as you can get it. It should track beautifully.

?? While it is true that a more forward CG will help with precision, it's seems more bang for the buck can be had from choosing an appropriate airplane that's made for (or at least ins strongly suited for) precision. For instance, using a forward CG on an Edge versus using a neutral CG on an SV... The SV will still be MUCH better suited for precision than the Edge.

What you're suggesting is kinda like telling someone to get an SUV for track racing instead of a Ferrari but just be sure to put racing tires on the SUV.

I don't know how much different the newer SHPs fly, but my SV tracks way better than my 47 SHP. It really makes me look like a better pilot than I am.

The OP seemed to want something other than a Vyper or Osiris, which is why I brought up using the Extra.

By the way- if the 57SC is in your sights- just get it now. Hands down the most favorite airframe I have flown from any manufacturer- ever, in my time in this RC hobby. That IS a beautiful blend of precision ability and great 3D. Check out some of my pics here.

I couldn't agree more, the 57" Extra is a great plane...."except"..it can get blown around a bit in the wind on landing...I had been flying my 59" Slick for quite a while, and it handles the wind very well...Then one day not too long back, I took my Extra out, and it turned out to be a windy day...I was very surprised to find I was getting blown around much more than with the Slick...

Polarized lenses???

I got new glasses a while back, and they are giving me fits, even thought the optometrist says they are correct...I am especially having problems driving at night, but, it is also effecting my flying. The Doctor has suggested that I get some polarized glasses (even though these are Transition lenses), as this will cut down on the glare... I do have cataracts, which is part of the problem, as they cause blurriness and make things ten to glare, but they are not bad enough yet, that the insurance will pay to have them removed.

So..I am curious what you guys have to say about using polarized glasses, as I have heard a few negative comments....

What say ye??
