hmmmmmmmmmmmm, they look good and priced right. Just need the 65a one and a motrofly motor! Any other good feedback or other options that are good but around the same price range or lower? I do like the BEC being adjustable to 6v though.

I was planning on using an eflite 40 amp ESC, an Omega 72g1100KV, a 3cell 11.1v 2100 mah lipo battery (I think that's what it is, I don't remember) but I can get a different battery if I need to, and either Hitec HS-65MGs or HS-45HBs for servos.

2100... that's big... I'd run either servo. Probably 65MGs though as they're more durable. I'd say go for a 1600mah lipo...

I'm sure this has been discussed before so if the mere question nauseates you then don't worry about asnwering...

What would the pros and cons be of a gas 71" Slick versus an electric. I understand gas in something much larger so I'm just curious as to why you might prefer gas in this size.

And lastly... all I've ever flown is electric. I assume that learning gas engines might be a learning curve? What are the biggest things for me to learn?

Well... Gas in a 30CC makes it a lot heavier, and there's the throttle delay.

gas is more expensive with all the little odds and ends you end up having to buy in this size...learning that right now with my first 30cc plane. Although you do get the cool noise and just having something different than the rest of the planes in your hangar.

Biggest thing i have learned so far...there is no right way to setup the electrical system, everybody has a different opinion on how to do it. Double/single battery, ignition kills, switches, battery type, ect.

My 71" gas Slick with a OS GT33 and 16 oz of gas is about 5 oz. heavier than my 71" electric Slick with a Hacker A60-6XS and a 6S 5000 mAh battery. With the gas Slick I fly for 9-10 minutes and land with over half a tank of gas left, with the electric I fly for 6-7 minutes. If I put just enough gas in to fly 7 minutes I think the gas Slick would be lighter than the electric Slick. I don't know why everyone thinks electric is a lot lighter than gas in this size airplane, I don't find that to be the case.

Also, the OS GT33 is pretty dang responsive on the throttle.

Not trying to start an argument, just sharing my own findings.

30CC gas and electric both rock ..

But if you put a DLE-30 on an airframe and think it is going to run perfect ... your gonna have a bad time.


I think the electric setups are better for low and slow , while the gas tend to be better for high energy.

HS-65MGs. My 41" Edge originally had HS-45HB's and they all eventually had stripped gears. Also, 2100 is going to be on the heavy side. Try 1300-1600mah.

I think I used zippy compact 3s 1650's on my 42 slick with an ultra light setup and they worked fine. Cheap packs, but I beat the hell out of them with no issues! If you go heavier, I don't think you'll get the floatiness and stability that frame is known for!
