Hi Ed, you asked me to bring my cargo plane over to this thread, so here I am :-)
The fuselage was actually based on Mikey's-RC YC-14 design, but only because I hadn't discovered yours yet. Your designs are more elegant ![]() I started with a KFm2 airfoil in a 48" wingspan. It flew well, but in a nose-high attitude. Since it is a cargo plane and will carry potentially heavy objects, I started building a 60" wingspan Armin wing to replace it (with black foamboard!) I gotta say, it flies a LOT better with the Armin wing. The wing has a single aluminum arrow shaft for a spar. They break apart but are always together because of the Y harness for the ESC's. Bomb bay is "french door style" using a servo stretcher to get more throw, so that when closed, the servo arm is straight up, so any weight resting on the doors produces almost zero load on the servo. Carries two 3S 2200's, with BL2212/10 motors (1400kv) turning 8x4 props. I've also FPV-ified it, so it also has 2 cameras (1 for recording), video tx, and an extra 500mAh 3S pack. It has enough room inside to house a 1280MHz cloverleaf antenna. I plan on also adding a GoPro to it soon -- I have no doubts it won't care about the extra weight. The smaller skewplanar antenna on top is connected to the FrSky receiver. It also has an altimeter. So far I've gone up to 1400 feet but I plan to go higher. It's had a couple of rough landings which is why it's dirty... it had wheels at one time but I removed them because it would roll too far on landing. The 2 motors are coupled with the rudder which worked ok for taxiing, but I just like to throw it. Pictures below the movies.
