Hey Ed, are you going to do a video of the synapse wing? Im sure i could figure it out but if you were planning on making a video it would definietly make things easier. I loved the design thanks.

As promised.
This is the Armin Mig 15 I'm throwing together.
It's not pretty but it's just something I'm messing around with.
The thing that's coming out of this is a new way to do the tail section.
Instead of the single layer of board I've been using for the tail surfaces, I'm now bending a piece over to form a double layer. It is much stronger this way.
And for the swept HS I was able to incorporate a carbon rod to join the two halves. I really should redo the fuse as the 6 sides are not even and it's going to make getting the wings and the tail difficult to get lined up.
After I got the fuse wrapped around the EDF I realized I needed to add a little strip to make it go all the way round. So it's lopsided.
If it flys I will make a new fuse, but as I said, it's just for the fun of it.
Here's some shots of it in no order.

Well it looks like it will only let me upload one photo at a time.
So I'll have to post them ea one at a time.
Sorry Ed.

New project

Just wanted to share some pics of my new low wing sport model I'm building. Not quite done yet, but hope to have a maiden next week sometime. I'm going to use a 1450kv Turnigy with 9x6 prop run on two 2200 3s packs in parallel. Should scoot right along nice.

Looking good!

Guys can someone give me some pointers about building a V-tail, how to make it strong and yet simple?

Thanks Gordo, I'm happy to be on the team, so to speak. I appreciate you stoking the thread as you have.

Very nice job. I like the way you did the fuse.
Two 2200s wow, that thing will be flying for a long time.
How are you going to do the cockpit ?

IAFoamie
2000g would be my estimated maximum, never exceed weight. I'm deriving that from AUW and wattage of several planes I've made with the same wing area but deducting a bit for the swept wings.

So far I'm going to say 1600g is probably about as heavy I would want to hand-launch this plane, but that's just ball-parking it.

1300g with FPV gear and 14 minute flight on 4000mAh seems to fit my niche for medium-range FPV looking around type flights.

It's my pleasure Mr. Team leader.
I'm 71 and retired, what else do I have to do.

Can't wait for the build video on the wind thing.

I did a V tail that had a triangle fuse which made it easy to attach the V tail.
If you're making a square fuse, I would make a slit in the upper corners and slip the V tails into the slit all the way down to the bottom of the fuse.
You can put a piece of foam on the bottom of the fuse to adjust the angle of the tails. You have to make the tails longer to make up for the parts that go inside the fuse. If you still need help, I'll take a photo of mine and post it for you.
Good luck.

For a good V-tail, the angle should be 110-120 degree, so the triangle fuselage is a perfect idea. Thanks, I will have to remember this.

Maybe not the best angle on the tails, but it flew great.
And the triangle fuse is incredibly strong.
If I did another one I would make it 2" on the sides.
Enjoy.
