This may be covered somewhere in the last 107 pages so please forgive me if it has...
What servos is everyone using? I am looking for a cheap HK servo that I can order a bunch of for future projects, but am also looking at a cheap US alternative that I can possibly get by early next week for a few days off I was planning on spending doing some building and flying. Thanks Edit: While I am at it I am also looking for a good motor/esc/prop combo (HK) to go with some 2200mah 3s lipos for the various planes on here. I will probably start with a Noob Tube. I have 1 set of electronics that should work but want to see what the cheapest set of gear is that will have decent performance that I dont need to worry about destroying being too agressive with... Thanks again Thanks, |

Everyone has their favorite servos, I use Hitec HS 55's, very common servo, and decent quality for the price.
Here's a great 220 watt motor from Heads Up RC, good people, they ship fast and shipping is CHEAP! http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...2C-28mm/Detail |

Servos
I use the TS-9025 from RC Timer. They survived my learning curves 'forced' landings and inadvertant trajectories through terra-firma. Delivery has been excellent and they have the lowest shipping costs I've found.

A good example of what I'm talking about is the 1350 kv motor in a previous post by glazzies. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=21479 |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to try and see how well it flies on a very cheap set up from HobbyKing. Does anyone forsee issues with this set up:
Quantity Stock Product description Price Weight OK D2822-141450 - D2822/14 Brushless Outrunner 1450kv $7.86 65 BK HK-SS20A - Hobbyking SS Series 18-20A ESC $6.77 30 OK 074000054 - APC Style Propeller 7x5 (2 pc) $1.25 35 OK HK15178 - HK15178 Analog Servo 10g / 1.4kg / 0.09s $7.80 76 OK R610 - OrangeRx R610 Spektrum DSM2 6Ch 2.4Ghz R.. $5.99 39 OK OR16-102x10 - Metal Push Rods M2xL300 (10pcs/set) $1.79 65 BK 016-00503x10 - Linkage Stopper D2.1mm (10sets) $1.05 26 TOTAL: $32.51 336g With shipping it is around $40 for everything I should need besides the foam board some tape and glue. I want to see how truly cheap I can be with one of these builds. I know I could skip the linkage stopper and use coat hanger or something but I figure the extra $2-$3 is worth the eases of set up and tweaking. Besides it is enough lingages and push rods for multiple planes. |

Looks like a good start.
If you don't already have a metric allen wrench set that's made in China, get one, US made allen wrenches don't always fit Chinese allen head fasteners, they use a different standard than we do. I was baffled for quite some time why my high quality metric allen wrenches that were made in USA wouldn't fit the smaller size Chinese fasteners, from what I understand they actually have a different metric standard than we do, weird! Bought a cheap set of Chinese made allen wrenches and they fit fine! |
