Markus,
You will like the Fire Fly II , yours is coming along nicely,

I had the pleasure of 'Split Cane' this afternoon and we got his newly finished FFII into the air, he has made a really nice job of his Maiden was pretty predictable but on landing there was just enough rearward tilt to make a flare. He adjusted his push rod lengths to give a ltitle extra rearward tilt and things were loads better. He was using (I think) a 2200mah 3 cell Lipo which is a bit heavier than the 1550mah one I use on mine.
He made his first ROG and had several flights, I have taken some video and will sift through it later on. Because he is mode 1 he also had a fly with El Bandito . Good afternoon, just a shame its getting dark so early!

I am hoping that he will give us a little info on his motor set up as it had plenty of 'Grunt'!

Regards

Rich

That's his forum name....I have forgotten his name! just a bit forgetful at the moment (Dave?) he made the Micro Ultra Sik conversion.

Here is the video taken yesterday, at the end there is some footage of him Flying the El Bandito fitted with RPG's 3 blades with a 'bit of a tail strike'. All repaired now

Fire Fly II 3rd flight (6 min 11 sec)

Well done Dave

I've watched a lot of very good autogyro pilots fly their Fireflys and have never seen one take off any better than that, you've obviously built it as well as you fly it.

Glad you are having success.....me thinks you are now addicted!!
Oh - and don't think you are the only one who knocked the tail off one this weekend!!

Cheers
Rich

Hi All

Thanks to Rich for all his help and sorry for the El Bandito mishap.
The power setup on my Fire Fly is an Emax BL2215/20 turning a APCe 10x5
static current 19 amps, weight ready to fly 845g with a 2200 mah 3 cell battery.
The good flying quality must be put down to the designer not the pilot.
Thanks for your positive comments.
The Split Cane comes from my love of split cane fishing rods.

Better a fishing rod than a walking cane.

Not sure where to put these photos so I will just tag them along on this thread.

Taken last Sunday at Old Warden, just a few of us got together on a cold afternoon. But as we do we still had a laugh, unfortunately I didn't take any spare under pants after we were attacked by an RPG

Big thanks to Chas

Here is one video I took in fitting with the thread of 'LazyGit's) Fire Fly II.

FireFly II at OldWarden (2 min 38 sec)

I have other footage if yu want me to up load it then just say?

Regards

Rich
PS:
On another note here is a link to a thread elsewhere where a 'newbie' is having a go at a FF II.

Yes, better get some more up Rich, as Bill is missing all the fun being stuck in New York. It was a really good day, thanks to all.

It doesn't fit with the rest of the decor, but seems like the orange tail has its benefits, orientation was much easier than the "white both sides" original.

"bill taking a nap"......... I represent that comment!
I was steeling myself against the biting wind and the associated wind chill having been mesmerised by the rotating rotors!
